Hi, everybody. My tires are getting bold and i am thinking to put wider tires on my stock 20' rims with 265/50/20. Is anyone tried that that before and how wider then 256 can u go without the changing Sidewall Aspect Ratio (to keep same = 50). You u might say 265 is wide enough, i know, but still. The reason i asked , well i think wider is better? Thank u!

The aspect ratio will change if you decide to step up the width of the tire. The widest I would do on those wheels would be a 275, anything more it would look too "meaty." (FX enthusiasts down here in FL will put 285's on the 8.5 inch wheel) But the handling of your FX would suck due to the lateral flex, meaning you wouldn't be as stable in a corner as you did with the suggested factory tire size.

The closest sidewall to the factory spec I can come up with would be a 275/45/20

The size of the sidewall you have right now is about 132.5mm

-with a 275/45/20 it would be about 127.75 - difference being 4.75
-with a 275/50/20 it would be about 137.5 - difference being 5 even (thicker by a quarter of a millimeter)

Wider is better in a sense, i guess you could say "grip." But it also lays down more contact with water while raining causing an easier way to hydroplane.

But anywhoo, i would go with 275/45/20
