Wideer wheel width vs steering affects ??

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I'm planning to grab a set of 20" for the EX next summer.... these wheels comes in 20" x 8.5 , or 20" x 9.5

Should I get thinner ones for the front , and wider ones on the back ? Or just the same 9.5" width for all 4 sides?

I like the wider ones as it gives a more 'deep' look which I prefer, but not sure if this will affect handling badly.... can anyone advise?

As you can see from above, this GTI has a wider pair at the rear than the front, and has a much 'deeper' look on the rear wheels.

Thanks!!

Mods based upon "looks" seldom deliver improvements in real handling. So besides the usual negatives of associated with oversized wheels and tries: weight, drag, and spring rate changes (tire side walls are springs). The balance of your car would be better if all 4 were the same. The EX has initial understeer dialed in and the AWD has more than the 2WD. So adding more understeer (reducing oversteer) is heading the wrong direction.

i would go staggered or 8.5 all around because i don't think 9.5's will fit up front, i'm trying to figure out whats the most aggressive sizing myself.

speaking of dumb test, you live in alberta correct? so if you have awd [and why wouldnt you?] why would you even think of staggering your wheels?

no I don't want to stagger my wheels if I can.

I just really like the deep look in that particular set of wheels.

I believe the wider that wheel goes , the deeper it shapes. (8.5" vs 9.5")

I would love to have 9.5" wide all around , but not sure if that affects steering in a bad way, if it even fits
