Alright, I've searched.

Newb question, I'm sure, but I am new to forced induction.

What is wideband and how/why does it work?

From what I've read I gather that it replaces stock O2 sensor (or wiring) and measures A/F ratio using exhaust, but how would this let you alter the A/F ratio (what's the point of having it?) Would you have to use electronics such as the SAFCII ?

Thanks so much.

just like the name implies, it's a wideband 02 sensor. narrow band (stock) tells you rich, stoich, or lean, with no resolution. wideband tells you HOW rich or HOW lean.

Just got my car wideband tuned 2 days ago. made a WORLD of a difference. no more smoking, no more rough idling...it's doing great.

I guess my AFR was 14.5:1 which is DANGEROUSLY high. Set it down to 12.5:1 and she's running great
