I'm thinking of buying a DEFI D series A/F ratio gauge and I'm not sure if it is wide band, but if it's not could i still use it to tune with.

Is your engine turbocharged? If it is I would definalty go with a Wideband. If its not charged your just wasting your money. Bottom line for tuning purposes you need the wideband.

It's not charged yet, but it will be i just don't think this gauge is a wideband, but my car already has an Apexi S-AFC and AVCR i have headers and intake so a little tuning now could help but i don't want to tune it blind.

If you plan on getting the car boosted, Get a WIDEBAND. Narrowbands are pretty much useless in any situation unless you like watching the lights go back and forth . For serious tuning you want a EGT gauge and a Wideband.

Ok before you start criticizing, i bought this car with AVCR installed because they guy sold it when he lost interest in this project, I just wanted to make sure the gauge i wanted to get was a wide band not narrow band. i guess u thinks its fun to criticize people who don't know everything like you, because obviously you are the infinite source of knowledge.

look on a defi website or something and it should say if it is wideband or not. something u might also want to look into when getting a wideband, is making sure whichever unit u get, has either a 0-5v output or some other form of connecting it to a datta logging unit. cause if ur gonna use it for tuning, just watching the gauge bounce around aint gonna be much help, ur gonna need to see the results laid out on a graph with ur rpm's.

thanks for the help, i checked the DEFI website but unfortunately that model has been discontinued and there nothing besides installation instructions, so i came here for help. The data logging idea i wasn't sure on... but that is really something i will look into... like data logging with E manage right?
