yeah, i've done a search many times and i'm not finding the info i want. i have seen that it's suggested not to go over 16" with the super hicas, but that's not an issue since i'm looking at some 15x10 wheels. just curious if the 10" width will work with the hicas and generally, with the car overall. i have 16x7s on my car now, and they look lost in the wheel wells. i have a certain look that i'm going for with my car. i can't really describe it, but i know what it looks like in my head. lol. let's just say that wide wheels that will sit flush or tucked is a grand part of it. i'm open to your opinions. i've already got the wheel style picked out.

hello jester.
i would:
- turn the wheel all the way to either sides.
- measure all tire clearences closest to the well.
- if the measurement in any angle is shorter than 1.5"
- do not proceed.

I have 18x9 wheels with a +23 offset and they are decently flush, maybe a few millimeters off. I would worry more about the offset in your case rather than trying to stick the widest wheel you can find. I am guessing you will probably run into some issues with that wide of a wheel in the front as I have found with only 9" wheels. Plus you will probably have issues with tracking and trying to find a 15" tire that wide and with the right profile to look good. Regardless, good luck!

well, the wheels i want i've only found in 15x7 and 15x10, so....the look i am going for has a wide wheel/tire combo and the 15x7 isn't gonna cut it.

going for something close to this:

and no, i don't consider a chevelle and a j30 to be anything comparable....just the look.

How does your HICAS system like this setup? We know large wheel fitment is not an issue on non HICAS models.

The correct way would be to remove the springs and measure the clearances within the wells and fenders with the suspension fully compressed tuning lock to lock to give the most accurate measurements. 1.5" is an awfully large margin of error. Anything more than 1/4" is unnecessary.

i have 18x11 with a 295/30r18 and 18x8.5 with 255/35r18 and have no issues. offset is +38 front and +43 rear but have to use 35mm bolt on spacers up front and 15mm spacer with extended studs on the rear to make it "flush"

swimshark - since you have 43 offset with 11" wheels, do you think a 38 offset with 10" will be ok?

should be. id buy some wheels you could test fit if possible just to take the guessing game out of it. i got mine from a friend for helping him pull the motor out of his sc300 and putting it back in. the wheels came off a 300zxTT and fit well on the J30 besides crazy spacing up front.

i have the 300zxTT brake calipers and 13" rotors so i cant fit the stock spare anymore on my car so getting rid of it and doing something else with the trunk.

yeah, buying test wheels isn't gonna work. nice idea though. i think i'm gonna go with the 15x10 when i get the cash saved. found the wheels i want on summitracing.com for less than $90 each. now comes the tire research......

To clarify,

Swimshark is running a 8.5" wheel with a +38 plus a 35mm spacer in the front and a 11" wheel with a +43 offset with a 15 mm spacer in the rear.

This means -

Front: +38 offset + (-35mm spacer) = +3 total offset

Rear: +43 offset + (-15mm spacer) = +28 total offset

I'm not positive a +38 offset on 10" wheels will be enough to avoid any issues, but then again I do not have HICAS on my car to verify.

i dont get why hicas will be affected? i see TT run big wheels and have no issues. i have 300zxTT calipers and a 13" big brake kit up front and have no issues. 300zxTT calipers in the rear too with stock 300zx rotors. only issue i DO have is i cant use the stock spare so removing it.
