I have been waiting for November to buy a 2009 G37 sedan, but it looks like I'll have to wait a bit longer. Local dealer says area dealerships will get only one G37 sedan this month (and probably one for December), followed by a wide release in January. Apparently, the only reason one G37 sedan is being dispatched to area dealerships at all is because Infiniti already advertised the release of the car. Slow-moving stock of existing G35s was cited as the reason for the delayed release.

Does anyone else have more information on the release of the G37 sedan?

I've gotten basically the same story, but without the Jan 09 date. There are just so many 08's left that corporate is holding the dealers' allocations until they sell enough of them off. I keep checking the local dealers' sites for updated info. One dealer has all of their allocation up in placeholder form, but now details or prices. They did have two with prices up last week, then that turned into one, and now there are no prices showing. I doubt they are selling them, so I think they've just pulled them off the site. Suffice it to say that I may have to bite on the 08 deals, giving up 2 cogs, 20+ hp, and self-healing clear. I'd love to have the cogs, the clear would be nice, and the hp can be gotten cheaply. Looks like I may have to change my handle then.

I don't know. Here in Canada they were selling like cup cakes. I traded my 07 in for an 08 and there wasn't many left. If I were you I would go for the 08 and enjoy the saving. You not going to get that much off the price of the 09. Spend that money on mods and you'll be happier.

Welcome to Nico!

I do not know about the delayed release but it does not sound like something that would be out of the ordinary. Especially with the market and decreased sales revenue.

The 09 G37s are out there I had the pleasure of driving one a few days ago and was thoroughly impressed with some of the inprovements over the 35. However both of the new ones are great cars and you will happy with either one you choose to go with.

Agreed...if your waiting for it because of the added power, you might as well take this man's advice!!

I would wait unless you are getting a 6mt

But if you get the auto better MPG and lower rpms at cruising speed

better breaks, nicer wheels with the sport package, more efficient motor with more power.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I've test driven a 2008 G35 with sport package, and the prospect of 20+ more HP, better gas mileage, and two extra gears is worth the $3,000 or so extra that it will cost me (taking into account the dealer incentives on the 2008s). I'll save my pennies and wait for January.

On a side note, what's up with the fugly rims on the 2009 sport sedan?

I don't know man. You won't feel the extra 20 hp because Infiniti manged to up the weight by 170lbs I blieve. So there it goes your mpg too. They ended up with same mpg in city with the 08 wwhen they tested. Hwy maybe 1 mpg. You know how many miles you have to put in to make up the 3k. Which I think more then 3k. Not sure tho.

I agree on the rims. I think they are ugly. Another point to go for the 08.

Only thing I like in the 09 is the selfhealing coat.

I went shopping for a 2009 G37 sedan about 12 days ago and was told the same story. No wide release until January because of all the leftover 2008s on the lots. Infiniti is offering the 2008s at $4500 below sticker to move them. With a fully optioned G sedan, this price is about $900 below invoice. However, if you really want a 2009, they can usually find you one. My dealer looked all over the USA and found a few he could get. He finally found a black on black Journey with the Sport, Premium, Navigation, and Technology packages that I wanted. It should be here in about 10 days. I've driven a 2009 with the new 7 speed automatic and it is a really slick transmission. It always seems to be in the correct gear. First is super low so the car moves off the spot really quick. The first three gears are lower than in the 5 speed. Sixth and seventh are overdrives and that is where the extra 2 miles per gallon highway over the 6 speed manual comes from. Anyway, my point is that if your dealer is willing to do some work, he can find what you want. Don't expect to get any sort of deal in this situation, though. The 2009s are in short supply and the dealer will have to swallow the transport cost if he gets one from some other part of the USA. You are looking at MSRP under these circumstances. If you can wait a couple of months, you will have a much better chance of working a deal on a 2009.

Every Infiniti dealer in Toronto Canada is selling 2009 G37 Sedans. They can't lease there 2008's anymore so they have to satisfy a hugh cluster of business customers that would lease vrs finance or buy. There is a price hike coming in the next day or so on all 09's as well. Any incentives you may be offering up are probably pretty good right now.
