Im wanting to squeeze 16x9's or 16x10's in the rear of my convertible 240. I was just wandering can you roll you fender enough to squeeze that? or would fender flairs / or wide body be needed? and if that would be needed where is a how-to or a D-I-Y on how to install flairs or rear wide body quarter panels? Also with that wide of tires what is a good offset? Any help would be appreciated.

Stock suspension/ride height? I have 18x9 on mine and pictures are on my build page. I have +25 offset, but am running 25mm spacers. I could fit 18x9 up front (with no spacer), but had to stretch a 225/40r18 up front and it just fits/clears stock suspension. I am running 255/35r18 on the back and clear. I have since put coilovers and have dropped the car about 3 inches all around. I did have to roll the rear fenders (not easy because the extra bracing in the rear quarters). The fronts posed a different set of problems because of the the spacers. The fender liner was taken out and the seam behind it had to be pounded flat and I still rub. I would think with 16" wheels you have a good bit of room to play with. 9's on the rear should be no problem and you can find software that can tell you tire dimensions and you can use my 225/40r18 as the tallest that can fit and not rub on stock suspension and clear non rolled fenders. It's a lot to think about, but it feels damn good once you get it right. Oh and I'm going to flares .. so that is always a back up for ya.
Good luck.. post some pics when you get it done.

wheels and wheel fitment has been discussed at length in various threads in this forum.

The short answer is yes and no... it all depends on the offsets of the wheels, tires you're running and style you wish to achieve.

A 9 inch wide wheel with a negative 20 offset will not fit with out work and camber. A 10 inch wide wheel will easily fit under stock fenders if it has a positive 30 or higher offset. So to ask if a certain width will fit is pointless with out this specification. Tire size also makes a difference. Do you want the tire to bulge? Do you want it to stretch? And what over all look are you going for, hellaflush? poke? tuck? A lot needs to be taken into consideration when picking wheels, answer some of these questions or show me the wheels you are looking at purchasing and I can tell you whats required.

Im looking to keep the old school look like .. http://www.leitchmotorsports.com/CWhite ... dvert1.JPG but with wider tires for the rear.. it doesnt really matter whether they are tucked or not i just like the way wide tires look when your looking from the back.. kinda like a vette, they dont stick out but are wide as hell.. the tires im lookin at are http://www.xxrwheels.com/sportmax_002.shtml so i will probably end up going 16x7 front and 16x8 rear.. what offset and tire size, and fender modification would be needed to make it look like that first picture? mayb a little fender rolling required would be acceptable... man thanks for your help.. proper tire fitment = headache

The first picture is a car owned by a member on here, so maybe he'll chime in, but, you can see he has a slight roll on his fender. Personally, I think the sidewall on those are a bit tall, but that is purely personal preference. He is probably running like a 225 or 235/50/16 or something like that on an 8" wheel with the 3.5" lip they offer. You can also cheat the fender issue if you don't mind having a little bit of negative camber, so the top of the wheel is pull in, and the bottom is pushed out, i.e. //-----\\. There is a thread on Zilvia called Max tire thread in the chat section, check it out for other peoples' setups and that should help point you in the right direction.
