I am wondering if I can put the wideband o2 sensor in the stock location on the turbo outlet elbow and if there are any bad side effects of doing this?

No... The ECU needs the Stock O2 Reading... unless you're running a stand alone that for some reason doesn't use an O2 sensor, then yes you can. Most wideband kits come with a bung you can have welded onto the downpipe/exhaust...

yes I am using an stand alone SDS. It does not require a o2 but one can be used and I can use the analog output from the wide band to simulated a standard o2 if need be.

There are some widebands that will also give out a narrow band signal for the ECU, so in that case, yes you can because you only need the one O2 sensor.

Yes, true on both points... if you don't need the O2, yes you can use the stock bung... its the same thread pitch most likely.

what about the heat and being so close to the turbo is that going cause any possible problems?

no, you want the sensor as close as possible...
