did you ever find a replacement ecu? and does this one heat up like your old one? Is it physically melting -if so, where at (top around connector, bottom around spark plug) or just ceasing to function? Have you checked your coil packs as per the FSM or changed your spark plugs recently? Need a little bit more info to help you trace your problems out.

Yeah, check your dwell on the 4 coils, compare the values.. The dwell is the charge time on the coil. If the ECU is playing up, it's remotely possible it is overcharging the coil, and making it overheat.

I did find a replacement ECU and no it does not get hot anymore, spark plugs look good still (5 months old), tried 2 diferent ignitors, wired in a SR20 coil and both that one and the CA coils are melting into goo (CA coil cracked and bubbled out) and no longer work, plus the spark seemed weak when id install a new one

I know a blown headgasket can blow exhaust gas into your cooling system...thus making the car overheat. Any chance this could be something similar...but the gasses are making their way near the coil pack? Just a thought.
