This makes me so sad, I manage a lube rack at a chevy dealer, and if I caught any of my guys not doing a service it would be an insta-can.But this is not the first time Jiffy lube has been in the news, I remember a while back the had issues with certain shops putting used oil back in cars....

WTF man i am glad to say i have always changed my own oil

But thats just uber messed up

I am not that mecahnically inclined but my friends that work at dealerships do all the heavy duty work i cant

But yea a friend that works a Toyota dealership says people do some ****ed up things to cars there mostly they try to talk everyone into new filters and batteries like every tune up

i had a douche bad at autozone tell me to replace my air filter every 3 weeks

replace your filter every two weeks... ide tell that guy off imidiatly. Back to the thread, i loath those kinda scammers... theres a local guy whome i trusted and lost his trust. i had him inspect my car and paid him $50 bucks and when i asked him what he looked at all he could say was the tires, suspention and engine and he said it was all good... but it wasnt all good. i went home and found a intake problem, a broken rear sway bar and neumerous other little odds and ends. these people are unworthy to touch my Z.

That's the reason I have some humble (read: crappy) handtools and a few repair manuals for the things that I can handle. If it wasn't for a lack of knowledge/experience, tools, space, and time, I would be rebuilding the wife's transmission right now.

I had a knob at Mr lube tell me that my differential and transmission fluid were low and needed to be changed. I got that done at the same place 20 000 km ago, so it said in his computer that it was time to change. I told him that I would be pulling the transmission in the next couple of weeks, so I would just change it myself then. I really should have asked him what magic X ray machine he consulted to find out the fluid levels. I hate being lied to and deceived like I am some n00b that knows nothing. I have not been back since. I only went because it was winter and I didn't want to change my own oil outside in the cold. Doing stuff yourself ftw. Sure it may take longer, but when you are done you are covered in oil and grease and feel extra manly, and you know that no corners were cut.
