I Manage 3 Gas Stations in MA All with Shops. I can say I have seen some f*** up things that People would do to there car.A guy come in with a porsche for a oil change it recomends Syntec but he wants Regular Bulk oil.Why buy the car if your going to kill it in the long Run. You are oil reguired to 1 oil change a Year on those car and it cost $700. The Dear Has tilted Lifts to Drain the oil Completly. Don't be Cheap the oil is the blood of the car. Take care of your investment Guys.
There's a huge difference between "cheap" and "wasteful".When I buy bananas at the store they're green, and they turn yellow and then a little brown, but overall their just fine. Same with the 3 day old steaks I buy at the store. Most people think the nice bright red steaks are the best but after a few days, after the meat has cured and rested, it turns a little brown and becomes a much more tender, better tasting steak.
I can't speak to your coffee brown oil. But I change the oil in my CBR1000rr about every 2k miles for many reasons (high compression, wet clutch gearing sheer forces, tight tolerances, high RPMs and high heat) and it's never "black" it still has a nice "oil" color to it. The 7,000 mile OCI on my old Honda did produce some pretty black oil...but that engine ran for over 220,000 miles before I sold it and it had no problems at all. My Chevy S-10 had about 175k miles if I remember and I used the same GTX castrol on that as I did the Honda. Both ran for a long time, both were in great shape.
500 miles per oil change is a total waste. You may even be doing more harm than good. Check out the BITOG site and there are recent studies coming out that used oil, in the 2,000-3,000 mile range, actually provides a better protection than brand new oil after it has broken in a bit. Just like a brand new engine versus one that's properly seasoned and broken in.
Maybe I'm crazy, maybe you're crazy, but I've never "felt" any difference in any car or motorcycle or boat that I've owned and worked on after an oil change. Maybe if you're going from a 60wt oil to a 0wt oil the engine might spool up a little easier. Maybe you're a robot or sometihng and can feel that imperceptible difference. I pay pretty close attention to every vehicle and every car and every bike or boat I've ever worked on or owned and I can say with pretty much certainty that i've never "felt" a difference between oil changes. A 500 mile OCI is a complete and total waste of time money and resources.....IMO of course!
