Very true...but that's my opinion of what rice is. I don't see how you can't consider those windshield wiper nozzle lights tacky but to each his own. All I know is if you get that GP Sports kit and the Blitz rims....don't even think about putting some neon lights on the car :)

Duh...I'm the one with all the knowledge that figured out what rims they were!!! :D I prefer the smoothed in front end. Also, I would leave the turn signals off the car.

Yep...I prefer the car with the Blitz wheels. Either kit will look awesome with/without the wheels.

Nitrous and a body kit would only cost me about $2,000 maybe less and installation and paint job; my wifes' father own a body shop so I will only pay for the paint which is only about $200, so from that to $4k, you do the math.

RIght now, Iam a victim of a ricer. This I consider not only extremley gay, but ricey. This guy that lives in my neighborhood has fuggin CRX(go figure) and every morning he likes to rev the **** outta his little fart cannon for like 5-10 minutes, then turn the car off and go inside, he does this like 4 times a day. He doesnt go anywhere, just revs his engine, and it sounds like ****. And when he does leave, he has to try and go really fast and tack out his 1st gear. And when him and his other rice friend come back, they both have to rev there engien loud as **** whenever they stop for a few minutes and they seriously think they are fast :-/

I think they do it so they have some psychological on them and other people, they want to think they are badass, they want others to think they are badass, so they do annoying ****, and that makes em look like dumbasses. That I think can be considered rice.

boMex wrote:What about B18c5 swaps? Since they are 'R' powered they should be able to use the name....and just there are a bunch running around here in Toronto.

What about a silvia conversion??? Just because your too cheap to drop for JDM parts doesn't mean the rest of us are

so if I have a S13 sil conversion with an SR swap and like 20 grand under the hood as well as a scoop on the hood for better ventalation, thats ricey??? wha????

...yeah dumbass until one whoops your ***......I learned this lesson when a turbo Hyundai Sonata whiped my *** so hard it still hurts.

...ummm are you really as stupid as you sound?? Neon ACR's are lethal at the track, Focus SVT's will school a 240sx any day and a cougar with a vortec supercharger will rip on most rides.

Now granted they will never be a sports car but they can still be made to go way faster then you. In fact they probably start out faster than you.

...it's for the passengers dumbass.... You don't know Jack Squat!

1. Even if you swap a B18c5 into an integra, civic, whatever, it'll still be a civic with a B18c5 swap. ITR decals only belong on Integra Type Rs.

2. So your telling me you don't think supra headlights and civic and all that other crap isn't ricey? Go ahead and do a silvia conversion, I couldn't care less, just that I wouldn't do it. There are better uses for your money. And BTW I do have a JDM Civic SIR front lip on my civic. I don't think someone who's only getting coilovers on their car should go around calling someone who put $6000 into their daily driver alone "cheap".

3. If your just going to put a scoop on the hood, why not spend a little bit more money and get like a c-west of jun hood with the scoops already in them?

4. If you actually took time to read the list , *******, you'll notice hyndai wasn't on the list. BTW, that's "whipped".

5. Are you some kind of moron? Did you see me write "YOU CAN'T MAKE THESE CARS FAST" anywhere? I know there are fast ones, I've seen them myself, just that 90% of them that I've seen are ricey as hell. For the amount of money you put into and american sport compact, building up the engine, turbo kit, etc., you could've bought like a camaro and killed it with the amount of money you put into mods. Now I know your thinking"But you could do the same with the amount of money you would put into a 240." Yes, but I said JAPANESE, and I don't have the money to buy a supra or RX-7. I live in texas, where camaros and mustang are plentiful and cheap, and it parts for their cars are often a lot cheaper than for ours.

6. You said it yourself "they will never be sports cars." Sure you could make them fast, but for the right amount of money, you can make anything fast. Not saying they suck, just that I'd rather put my money into a sports.

7. Again, putting money into the wrong part of your car. If you think t.v screens in your car are cool, and your always carrying passengers, go ahead and waste your money.

Douchebag.....I mean boMex, I stated in the beginning that these were all my personal opinions. If you don't like them, you can go bang your head against a wall for all I care, you can't tell people their opinions are better than yours.

Nice :thumbup

I think the silvia conversion kits on something other then a nissan is down right pathetic, dirrespectful, and a sad attempt to make a car something it will never be. Why take a FWD and swap a front end on it to make it look like a famous jap superstar?? I guess it has its up, they are still ricing a civic out, and if they wreck it, at least it wasnt really a silvia. Cause we know how well them honda boys drive :crazy

I guess generalizations of any kind are wrong, but being around a lot of other hondaboys and having a honda myself, I gotta say a lotta these guys drive their car like they went from neutral to raving jackass. Helps you spot the riceboys though, its always the guys with the ****tiest cars who feel the need to go as fast as they can, take the sharpest turns (what do you mean FWD's can't drift?) or rev the hell out of the car since they're so hot.

BTW trueslide, thanks for bringing up silvia conversions on civics, I totally forgot about those, just makes you wanna puke huh?

sure you can, go ahead tell me my opinion is better than yours, i'll believe you!

WINGZERO why would you not do a silvia conversion? well i wouldn't either (just playing devil's advocate) only because i like the 180 front better. but if you dig the way the silvia conversion looks (and you wanna put it on a 240) why are you saying that is rice?

i can't believe what i've read......basically your saying that spending money on a silvia headlight conversion serves no purpose and then is in effect RICE. then you go on to say that you spent $6k on your civic........um i'm sorry did i miss something here?

oh **** here comes the quotes.......Quote »Things I deem ricey (just my opinion, hope no one takes any offense):

- Decals of brands you don't have, who don't make products for you car, or which don't belong on your car (nismo on a honda, Type R Badges on anything except an Integra Type R).
in your signature....... you drive a 97 Civic....with SIR front lip, civic SI taillights (so in effect SIR and SI lips and taillights don't belong on your civic?)

Quote »- Headlight/tailight conversions. Period. Your car's fine the way it came from the factory.
okay this is where your saying silvia headlight and kouki taillights are rice. however you did put SI taillights CTR headlights and veilside eyelids on your CIVIC.......DUDE your civic was just fine the way it was!Quote »- This one isn't ricey, just stupid: Getting parts from the Japanese counterpart of your car which your car already has, like getting the japanese civic a/c vent just because its a different design.
uh .......what taillights and front lip?

Quote »Rice: Anyone who gets a car and works on it just because it supposedly makes him look cool
that's from your first post.....your signature says:Quote »$6000 into this car, gets chicks attention (phone numbers sometimes),
i'll stop now (eventhough there is so much more).......rice can be hard to define.....hell, look YOU defined YOURSELF in YOUR own definition of rice! I"M not saying YOUR civic is rice (but YOU did)......however you crossed the line saying a silvia conversion is. i'm sorry i can't allow that. also i have Tenzo rims......picked the suckers up for $1k w/ tires. i drift on them. your calling my car rice? sorry but can afford to drift on your pricey Racing Harts(i'd hate to bend on of those) that you have on your CIVIC. besides my tenzo's are 17's and weight 19.5lbs. not bad.

read your posts over again.......you'll understand.

He's right you know...

This is exactly why, creating a definition of rice is impossible... who the hell cares anyways... when you see rice you know it... leave it at that...

There you go, $2k+...so what kind of car do you have and what engine are you looking for? If you have a 240, the engine doesn't cost much more than $2k...or if you're daring, you can get an ebay engine for less than $2k. Hell, any car you drive, you can make your own turbo kit (imagine that) for about $2k. That would be a hellava lot cooler than some body kit and NO2.

Maybe so but I'm trying to go for both. I have a 92 240sx and so far I have:Custom 2 1/2" exhaust system with an Arospeed mufflerInjen intake with CAEACT racing clutchFidanza aluminum flywheelRacing camshafts Magnecor 8.5" wiresIridium spark plugsWalbro 255lph fuel pumpI just bought some hotshot headers but I haven't install them yet. That's just the engine, interior I have all momo and exterior I have an erebuni wing. And with $2k I can make my car more faster and better looking than just faster even thought the turbo maybe cooler. And by the way you forgetting about labor to install an engine, that's about another $2k, maybe a little less.

SpeeDDrift, just a couple of things man.1. Remember that in the beginning of the post I said that these were just my OPINIONS, and not FACTS. I wasn't pointing to anyone and saying "I think your car is ricey". These are just things that go through my head when I look at someone else's car.2. Ya got me on the whole silvia conversion thing, I guess its not so much rice, just that again, its just something I wouldn't do. When I was talking about headlight conversions, I was referring to people with civics who do supra and IS300 headlight conversions.3. In reference to the first quote on your post, I said DECALS, not parts from cars.4. In the second quote, please notice that I said CONVERSIONS. I didn't do a conversion, I replaced the headlights and tailights with factory counterparts. BTW the veilside eyelids don't have anything to do with the headlight replacement, I just put them there because the civic's headlights are too big for me.5. As for the 3rd quote, the tailights I have are from a USDM civic, and I never had a front lip in the first place. Iwas referring to people who were hopping on the JDM bandwagon and just trying to j-spec their cars out by getting things like the shift boot, clook and a/c vents from the japanese civic just because they have minor differences.6. And for the whole "cool" thing, I work on my cars for myself, because I enjoy doing so. Not so I can go cruising on saturday night with the seats all the way back, loud music, and just trying to look cool. Just because sometimes a girl might say to me "hey, nice car", its not like I built the car for the explicit purpose of picking up chicks. I could get chicks before I got my car. It just helps.7. And finally, don't take the list to heart man, so what if you got tenzo rims? Fine, makes no difference to me. Again, these are all just OPINIONS. You got yours and I got mine, no use in either one of us trying to change the other's outlook. Like FrEaK said, it's a matter of taste and we all have our own. I took a second job just so I could afford stuff for my cars, I prefer to buy things that cost just a bit more. Doesn't make my car any better than anyone else's, just what I prefer. At least I'm glad you were mature enough to make your point without having to use insults like some other people.

Find a new shop! That's a really high price. I've been quoted between $500 - $1000...never over. Besides, you can just grab some buddies and do it yourself. It's not that bad. I'm sure you can do it in a weekend.

Well I tell you what. If I can find a SR20DET engine for $2k or less I go for it. But It gots to come with everything ready to just install it, without having to buy a front clip or ECU or anything extra. What do you think, can I find something like that.
