Tuesday, the parking lights stopped flashing, when I lock the doors with the remote.

I tested the car alarm, and the lights do not flash, when it goes off, either.

Any insight?

I guess this is the first and only time an Infiniti on this site has ever done this.

I feel special!

Yes, parking lights, turn signals, and flashers all work fine.

Remote works fine, just stopped flashing the lights, when I lock it.

When I hold down the lock button, the alarm goes off, and the horn beeps, but the parking lights do not flash. The headlights still flash, though.

Sorry I didn't specify. It is the factory 1994 Infiniti alarm system.

When I bought the car, the remote was in prety bad shape. The plastic part that holds the key ring had been broken, and re-glued, and the case had electrical tape holding it together, so I got a second one off of eBay. I got the programming instructions from my local Montgomery Infiniti dealership, and programmed the second remote. That was about a year ago.

The remote has worked fine, and still locks and unlocks the doors, and opens the trunk.

I know on my 2000 I30t, I can hold down both the lock, and unlock buttons, to switch from either beep the horn on a lock, or just flash the lights on a lock. My wife liks the horn beep, but it is annoying to me. I re=program her car, every time I drive it.

I have tired this on the Q remote, but nothing happens.

I think it is either a glitch in the alarm system, or a sing of impending doom.

I haven't tried to re-program the remote to the system, but I might give it a try.

Will do, tonight. If it doesn't fix it, I can live with it, as long as it locks and unlocks the doors.

In the past 2 months, the front passenger window regulator crapped out, the left rear window switch in the console stopped working (I spilled my beer, while passing a cop at 145, and arguing with my wife on the cell phone)(JK), and now this.

If I didn't love the car so much, and didn't have the mechanical skills I have, I would be in trouble.

Thanks for listening.

Sounds like a relay issue in the factory alarm system. If you have the Infiniti shop manual for your car (which I strongly recommend every q45 owner should have) it should show where the factory alarm relays are located. :)

i have a similar issue with my J30 alarm, dealer could not find the cause.

-only 1 side of the car lights up when the alarm is set.

(turn signals on both sides work normally, but only the right side works when the alarm is set.)

i have looked through the shop manual, and it could be any of 2 relays or something wrong with the control unit. decided to postpone it because it doesnt impact normal operation.

if you are set on fixing it, i would get these relays and the control unit from a junked Q and swap them in.

there is a change that there is a wiring problem, and in my opinion that would not be worth hunting for, in this case, at least my case.

Not 100% sure, but the lock and unlock quit working on the driver's rear, as well as the window switch from the console, about the same time.

I think the reason the lights do not flash, is because the computer is not getting a confirmation from the rear driver's door, that it is positively locked. I used to get this, if a door was not completely closed, and I tried to lock the doors.

I will do some investigation, when I have the time, and let you guys know.
