One had abs, the other didn't. The 93 had abs, no? That's my guess.

don't think so. it was my friend's hatch back and I know it had no lsd but I didn't think to make sure it didn't have abs. Anyway I thought the difference from abs cars to non abs cars was not the engine/transmission, but the driveshaft and rear differential. They used the same transmission for abs cars as non abs cars, just with a different diff and driveshaft.if that is true, then an ABS engine/transmission should still bolt into a non abs car, using that car's original non abs driveshaft.

yes, the fsm verifies this. difference is in the rear of the axle. .5 inch. mine is less than that. besides the ABS driveshaft is shorter, not longer.

Just push the driveshaft in a bit. It has enough play to be pushed in toward the transmission.

lower the cross member a tiny bit, that should give you a little more space to try to fit the driveshaft in. I had to do that with mine. with a little finesse you should be able to pop the driveshaft on.

Loosen the transmission and motor mounts, see if you can get it to slide forward a little...
