I have noticed a growing trend: Except for Rafi, Ryan and Dee, almost all of you have been getting more and more rude on here latley. No need to name names, but I have seen in many threads an increase in needless rudeness. Can someone explain this? And not just in recent threads of mine either. Just folks not using their heads or not reading what someone REALLY wrote, or just assuming one thing or another. Is there any chance that the mods can help change the air in here? I am afraid that we are going to turn away a lot of good folks because of the childish nature of many of the recent posts. I for one am pretty much ready to ditch NICO....it has been going downhill for a while now.

I agree. I apoligize for anything out of context. I realize not everyone has the same views as I do. I'll keep my opions to myself (though sometimes when I try to help, it sounds as if I'm an a**). Don't mean to be. We have the rest of the import world to rag on us. Bottom Line: Everybody tunes their car in a different way, and that is ok. I'll take daily doses of my "Hatorade". Its not worth it...

Totally agree, I feel old sometimes when people talk like small kids...A small harmless question can be VERY big and a lot of angry words.

Please try to answer people a bit softer, Nico rocks on all the other things.

I think that people are taking things out of context and knocking them down. I dont want to get into details but I got threatened for something that didnt make sense and I went to straighten things out because they were obiously taken the wrong way =/. I have seen some people in the CA forum acting a little differently but then again they are people that arent usually kicking around in this forum either

Guys,

We are trying to make this place a "let's move forward environment instead of CA18DET pre-k clinic. Some of you guys have been instrumental in telling new members to use the search functon to get the available information they seek as a whole, but then at the same time, some see you guys as A**holes as well. Well folks, welcome to the school of hard knocks because I think some of you have matured enough to intercept problem children and deal with them on your level. And when the situation gets out of hand, that's when your moderators step in and try and either resolve the issue or squash it. But if the members in question continue to be rude, smart-mouthing the moderation team, as well as being an all out booty, his/her membership will be up for banning.

I hate to get to these extremes, but unfortunately, we have some internet trolls who spends most of their time stinking-up good forums with their bad karma and around here, that is unacceptable. It's bad enough we have to deal with the rest of the performance world looking down on us, But to see us fighting amongst each other is bad in itself. I personally don't mind getting down and dirty at times, but when it starts to become disruptive and childish, even I have to know when to draw the line. And once the line is drawn and someone continues on, you will get banned "Point Blank". We are here to learn from each other and develop our motors/cars. Trying to see who got the biggest cyber-sausage will not get anything resolved and it is part of your moderation team's responsibility to keep order in this camp and thou will be done!

Well, if its just supposed to be a "move forward" CA forum, then where are the guys (who are going to keep this forum alive in the future) who need startup information going to go?

Its not like any of thses CA18 questions will ever be answered in the Online Mechanic section or even technical. Everybody just says "I dont know about that motor".

Food for thought...

We answer as many questions as possible, but be real man, who wants to keep repetitiously telling every new member that the CA18DET's base timing is at 15 degrees BTDC. There are younger members who don't mind sharing the answer over and over again. Most of us participate in many discussions as they pertain to us and to the ones that don't, we just leave them for others to answer; and to me, that's the way it should be.

When I say
"let's move forward environment instead of CA18DET pre-k clinic" it is exactly what it is. Who wants to be stuck on very old, elementary business. Members like yourself who have been around here for a while should already be up to par, so you can help assist newer CA18DET candidates/owners. But, if you haven't learned about the engine you have in your car, you've been speaking more than you was listening because all the information is either archived or have been posted on numerous postings. And this information I speak of contained some of the most comprehensive tid-bits that should make everyone have successful swaps.

I'm willing to help any member who wants to better his/her knowledge about our beloved CA, but some of these guys are hard-headed and don't like to read, thus they will be S.O.L. when their projets fail.

i say it's from all the honda converts because "drifting is cool" j/k If you ever went on honda forums there is a decent amount of trash talking. I don't think people realize that forums are for gaining info sharing info to better your own skills. They take it as a competitive thing where they gotta be better. If you wanna prove your better go to the track. I personaly come on here to increase what i already know and there is alot of info on here if someone wants to learn anything. People need to take it for what it is and cut the immature behavior.

I agree with rico, when I first joined NICO it was really laid back and everyone for the most part seem friendly. Then I was outta it for a couple of years, I come back to NICO and to me seemed like big change. Seems to be alot more people who just like to flame on others for no apparent reason. I think that our CA mods have done a pretty good job and commend them for doing so. I feel like it's a privilege to own one of our beloved ca's "even if mines pretty much stock" . I'm here to learn as much as possible and see what different approaches everyone has taken with their setups, and maybe make some friends along the way. For now I'm like a sponge and trying to soak in all the knowledge I can.

I'm recently guilty as charged, but I'm normally helpful.. it's just that regardless of the subject I can't stand people making (possibly correct for their purposes) decisions for the wrong reasons and then dissing the other option(s) for those wrong reasons.. it brings the anger

This is why i stay out of all the hate replies. I dont let people offend me. ]

i think we as a community need to stay OUT of the arguments and petty fights. If someone is "out of line" then we say so and let the mods take care of it.

Thanks for stepping-up and acknowledging the fact that you are human because we all have done it as well. When you (all) the members of NICO see a thread that's getting out of hand and none of the mods are logged on to stop it, do as best you can to handle it, suppress it, or whatever, but also do your best not to stoop to the lowest level of stupidity that negative poster might be bringing.

Most of you guys are pretty cool because I actually sit behind my computer at times and watch you guys attempt to answer each others questions; which means to me that you guys are learning. When it comes to performance, I don't mind jumping in and mingling with this subject because whatever I've learned over the years, coupled with some of our other hi-po CA18DET members' knowledge, should help most us achieve our goals or get very close to them.

My motto is this: My car is powered by nissan's CA18DET engine. It is not a big engine, but it is big on performance. It is the engine I chose and I am happy with my choice. I am but a few that still use this powerplant and proud to be as such. And you ask "What engine is that" . And I reply "a ca18det" . And you go "Oh" because you don't know. And if you don't know, you'd better ask somebody because this is my CA18DET.

if you look at the big picture, its bound to happen from time to time. even the most pristene (sp?) oasis [of knowledge] will have its occasional drought/pollution... its just how things work, nothing stays perfect forever. But as time goes on, problems (and people) usually find a way to fix and improve themselves.

this engine forum was the reason i started browsing all of nico. and with a very few exceptions, the CA forum has by far the one of the most mature user bases of any message board, not just NICO. coincidence? i dont know.
