Maybe if you weren't so pissed off you'd read one of the most common things that has ever happened to any ka24de engine. It's pretty much a garuntee as the car gets some miles under its belt. Remove the timing chain guides, don't replace them, take them out completely, and while you're at it, check your tensioners. After that, learn some manors. You probably wouldn't be on your third engine if you weren't a douche and learned some patience and what the search button does.

you don't know what you're doing when you change the guides??

idk...if you're 3 for 3 on having your motor tick after you change the guides - I'd let someone else do it

mate, please do use proper language without too many improper words which do not fit the context.

You have to completely remove the guides, if you have read and searched here, you may have seen that its a common problem with KA.

Just remove them, you dont need them. make sure your tensioners are properly functioning, check to see if your timing chain loose or not.

Sounds like you might want to give up on building engines. What are you doing to your engine to throw a rod? Just an old engine or were you abusing it?

ok, for starters...DO NOT remove the guides on the ka24e, all that will do is make it rattle and put a nice little hole in ur timing cover. if its a ka24de, yes, remove the guides. Also, i seem to be seeing a lot of people confuse ticking and rattling. The ka24e has a common problem with rocker arms ticking when the engines havn't been run in a while. Throw some marverl mystery oil in there and warm it up, then rev it a few times. This usually gets rid of sticking rockers. Next time you post...stay away from the engine for an hour or so before you start typing...i know i get pissed at engines like that too, i just calm down before i go chewing on people

yeah... i wasnt trying to chew people... i was just trying to find answers...it just confuses the hell out of me that its doing this right after i replace the guide and tensioner, and thanks for the infor... i was pretty damn sure i needed the guide on there.... and also... its only sit for about 48 hours is that long enough time to be sitting around to develop the tick in a rocker????

I've read that sometimes the injectors emit a ticking noise also. Most common ticking or rattling(depends where your from, I guess) in the KADE is the tensioner or guides though. Every import I've come across has some kind of ticking to it.

If you are reusing your oil pump, it is possible that it might be going out (not getting enough oil to the head)

If you have a way to check your oil pressure I'd suggest doing that. I'm not sure off the top of my head (I'm at work) what the pressure should be but if you're low, a new pump will run you 75$ Link

alot of things could cause the ticking it's hard to say without being there to hear it and test some things.

Marvel mystery oil works? My ticking is either my rocker arms or valve stems. but I think the rocker arm(s) are actually loose, not stuck. I have a ticking noise coming from under the intake manifold/engine on the side of the injectors (although injectors tick too). The only rattle I have is at startup (timing chain, but someone said its probably due to low oil pressure). I basically need to take it to someone knowledgable to get an idea of what exactly is wrong.

If you find out for sure what the noise is, let us know.

marvel has worked for me several times. To the best of my knowledge, its an exhaust rocker on the 3rd cylinder back on my engine that does it if i let it sit for too long (like its doing now) and makes a very definite clacking noise. Its really easy to see if they are loose, just pop the rocker cover and check all the nuts. make sure you don't knock them out of whack tho, ours aren't supposed to be adjustable. the startup rattle is the tensioner, mostly because of a combination of low oil and the fact that it takes a few seconds to get oil pressure to the tensioner to make it work. you say you have a ticking under the mani? As far as i know, nothing is supposed to tick there. How loud is it compared to the injectors, and how far back/forward is it?
