So, I thought that maybe I could start an interesting thread for everyone. It's a pretty basic question for everyone. Why did you choose your AC? I know there are a lot of choices out there, so why this car? I'll start LOL. I had several reasons for buying this car. personally, I see the car as an extension of myself. I like a car with a nice long hood, nice curves and overall shape. In this aspect The AC won over my other choices, It has all of that! Then there was the most important thing..... How a car drives, I love driving, and the car has to be fun. Before this car i went through a new one almost every 6 months :ohno: ! Finnaly got a 300ZX, and i loved it, but hated the constant problems  . which is another reason i chose my AC. I broke down and looked for a better car. I liked this cars look, but loved driving it even more. And 2yrs later my opinion has not changed lol  !!! I see a lot of potential for it, but the basics are the same!!!
So.... Why did YOU choose this car? The real reasons, lets go to your basics, and maybe we can learn why our forum is the way it is!!

no good used g35 coupes around when i was looking for cars, at least not for prices that matched the condition of the vehicles. also, my dealership gave me a pretty sweet deal on the car, so it was hard to say no.

I forgot to mention, I also needed a car that can handle snow and had decent trunk space. otherwise it would've been a 350Z

The real question is, why NOT the AC?

-sporty look
-relatively not too pricey (like g35/g37 or 350/370z)
-3.5 got the performance you want
-fwd (being in jersey) can handle the snow

so if u ask me, its a win win situation :mike

Im gonna have to go with
-sporty look
-clean leather interior
-needed the trunk space (must be able to fit golf bags no exceptions)
-FWD for the snow was a must also

That pretty much weeded out the G35 350z and genesis.
Left me with the choice of accord altima or sciontc

Altima won ;)

The only coupe out there that I relatively fit in, being 6'10" and all. Plus the warranty works in both US and Canada, and FWD for the snowy conditions in Canada, where I'm going for college coming this fall.

Aside from the obvious reasons already listed, I got it because it was something different. I had only seen one prior to getting mine and I loved it from the moment I saw it. I guess you could say I was being a "hipster" but I really did want something that hardly anybody had so that I could stand out. One of the dealerships I went to before buying was trying to get me into a used Z. I could have saved a couple thousand but in the end I would have been driving something that I see 20 of every day.

My lease was almost over on the 04 Maxima so I had a decision to make; stay with the Maxima(great car with lots of power), or look for another car. The AC just came out around that time and loved the look of it. I started looking at coupes because I did not want another 4 dr. So I looked at;
Toyota Solara, hated this car when I test drove it, sucked big time.
Ford Mustang GT, oh boy, loved everything about it and because my first car was a Mustang. Only thing was it was a Ford and I've been burned by them in the past, so no to Ford.
Mazda RX8, nice car, drove great but just a little to small.
Honda Civic Coupe and Honda Accord coupe; Civic's seats were to small and it did not have power. The Accord coupe was nothing but rattles inside, plus hated the dash setup.
BMW 3 Series, very nice car, drove incredibly and had plenty of power. Cost was too high even though the first 25k miles was maintenance free I still could not afford the price tag.
So after a 3 month search I test drove the AC, first one was black/black 3.5 mt and fully loaded. Fell in love with it but wanted a 2.5 auto. Dealer looked around and found the color I wanted, in 2 weeks I was driving my new AC. No regrets-love this thing.

Cheap (relatively), limited needed maintenance, extended reliability, and modifications available. I think that's why most purchase the A/C.

I just knew my 2006 M45 was about to start costing me a lot of money, so it was time for something new. Drove a Maxima SV, but I couldn't shake the thought that it was the same car, only not as good. I wanted a 370Z, but was disappointed to find my wide self wouldn't fit in the seats (and let's be honest--it's only practical as a weekend car). I drove a Fusion Sport, R32, Challenger R/T, A4, Optima SX and more, and I found faults in all. The only surprising candidate was a 2011 Ford Edge Sport, but I just couldn't get the price I wanted. I thought of waiting for the new Golf R, but it just didn't seem worth the wait (nor the price). So, after prying myself out of the Z, the Altima was next on my to-drive list. It fit all my needs--smaller, cheaper, more efficient than the M; reasonably quick and fun to drive; good looking inside and out; great technology options; reasonably priced for a 2010 or later model. The only thing I'd prefer is RWD. Factor in a great Memorial Day deal and a 3-day weekend test drive, and I decided my search was over. A new 2011 Altima Coupe 3.5SR was mine. It took a few weeks to forget about the power and luxury I gave up, but I'm really liking my AC.

Oh, and the honest truth is that I spent a lot of time on these forums while shopping, and I appreciated the community and aftermarket options (regardless of whether I end up going the mod route) that I found here.

Oh by the way. New Slate AC 3.5 owner here. Hello all.

...was not on my list. It was my buddy's dream car at the time, and I didn't feel like stealing his thunder.

So I'll illustrate the other cars I was looking at, all the V6 trims of their respective model:

2008 Chevy Malibu LTZ:

2008 Pontiac G6 GXP

2008 Nissan Altima Coupe 3.5SE:

I test drove all three, and here I am.

Goldie, I'm with you. Your search and circumstances sound similar to mine. In fact I bought mine on Memorial Day weekend. When I first started looking I had no interest in an Altima because I see them everywhere. However, while car shopping, my wife insisted we stop and look at Altimas. Once I saw the coupe, I was very intrigued. However, I had more shopping to do. I looked at and drove the BMW 128i, the Camaro, the Kia Forte Koup, Cadillac CTS Coupe, Infiniti G37, and Hyundai Genesis Coupe. I considered the Challenger (too heavy) and the GTI Golf (just plain-looking) also but didn't drive them. When all is said and done, there are only a few 4-seater coupes out there. Then when you want performance, decent gas mileage, and a price under 33K, the choices were pretty much what I listed above (except the Cadillac was way too much). Since I live in Florida I wanted rear wheel drive so the FWD of the AC was holding me back at first. But when I compared these choices, the AC was the best looking, best optioned, best gas mileage to performance ratio, and nearly the best price. Finally what sold it for me was seeing one in the color I bought: Crimson Black. None of the other cars I looked at had as pretty a color (without tacking on an extra $1000 for the "special" paint offering). Mine's loaded except for the Nav system, so I got all the luxury features I wanted without paying Infiniti prices. Also, I traded in a Mazda RX-8 which handles awesomely. But I just added the Racingline rear sway bar and the car feels just as tight as my old Mazda. So, all in all, loving the AC.

I forgot to add in the Accord coupe. Although Honda owners are smug about their cars, I still think the Altima is better. Equivalent performance and mpg. However, whenever feature for feature are compared, the Honda was actually about $1000 more. Also, I personally think the Altima looks better.

And I think the Scion TC is bland, slow, and just doesn't compare. (Although the Scion FR-S may be another story when that comes out, we shall see)

I don't own AC but after looking this picture, maybe I should think of saving money to buy one. Maybe it is also cool if AC will have its own version of small cars.

I did extensive research on the Accord Coupe during my car search...the spectacular engineering failure of the disk brakes, coupled with Honda's inexcusable denying of the problem for years, originally blaming the requisite 8,000 mile brake jobs on user wear and tear - made my decision very easy!
