So I'm on the interstate coming home, and a Scion Tc decides to try and keep up with me. Mind you I had the cruise control set at 95mph, so all of a sudden the Scion is right beside me. I stay in 6th gear and just punch it, watching the Scion's lights getting further away LOL. I get to 110mph and I realize Im not going any faster. What do ya know, the a/c has a governer on it My SpecV would of kept going!! I know, who goes over 110mph on all the time?? But damn I'm a lil disappointed now

Obviously. I've known about the governator since day 1. Most new cars have them (for our safety and the safety of others). It makes some people frustrated (just like the PZEV 5hp reduction), but in the end, I do believe that it's for our own good. Seriously, how often do you go over 110mph anyways?

It's america, when i was down in LA the average speed on the highway was literally 95 MPH, if you went 65 as per the posted everybody would blast right by you.

The speedlimits here are pretty tame and 80-95 isnt uncommon to do in rush hour traffic on the Interstate. You get to either coasts in the US and 95 is mandatory to not get run over.

I can't believe you. The last time I drove 65mph on a freeway in LA was at 3am with no traffic.

I was down there for a 2 week vacation, and all i saw was 95 MPh cruising by everybody, then 2 minutes later accident, 95mph, 2 mins later accident. i actually couldn't belive the amount of accidents on the highway it was crazy, and when i saw for the very first time lights at the merge lanes i was like WHAT THE F**K with my friends. I heard Americans were boring slow drivers, but after seeing firsthand my views are completely changed. After that little trip Canadains are the Real boring slow drivers.

Try driving in Boston. I remember doing 95mph in bumper to bumper traffic, looking over to the right and seeing a guy in a BMW doing 120mph on the shoulder of the road, dodging people merging from the entrance ramp.

People talk about Chicago drivers, driving fast. They have nothing on Boston drivers. Chicago drivers tend to be more aggressive. People dont speed in NYC. Too much damn traffic.

If this is true about the 2.5 being governed at 110, well that means my 1993 Volvo 460 had a higher top speed... I had that baby up to 200 km/h and it was a 1.8! I thought it was gonna break apart! I don't suppose it's possible to just take the governer off, is it? That s*** is all electronic now, right?

This just sux! Like I said, my 02 SpecV would of kept going. I had it up to 130mph before! It would just ease my mind to know I could go over 110mph if I wanted to LOL.

Yea doing 100+ sounds cool but its not... Especially once the cop catches you, and he ill get you... I got clocked doing 101 mph in my small city cop let me go home because i was less than a mile from my house... He tok my license though. The judge threw the book at me however. $400 in fines, 2 Classes ($40,$90), and 24h Community service... If you wanna let it all out in you car, take it to the track... BTW the cop clocked me after I saw him and started slowing down in my SE-R

I have done 119, but the car has a factory limit of 120. It is easy enough to change though. You can get the interface you need to do it off ebay for not a lot of money. No chips required.

West Side Highway, Bronx River Parkway, Cross Bronx Expressway at 2am (otherwise it is often a stand still), Van Wyck Expressway - are all places that you can get yourself in trouble in NY.

I know, it's not common to go that fast, just a rant LOL. The fact that my sentra went 130mph and my a/c won't s amusing though.

Guys, again, a manufacturer HAS to limit a vehicle's top end to the tires that come with the car. If they didn't put a corresponding speed-rated tire on a car that could go 130 or 140 they would be opening themselves up to a HUGE liability.

I agree my freaking 97 Integra used to do 128 with no problem and I just think it's b/s to limit to 110. I haven't even went over 80 anyways but like he said earlier it's just nice to know that you can if you need to. Also, are you sure it was the govnah (lol) stopping you or just not enough HP to finish the job..?!?

i would hold them liable for limiting top end speed, what would happen if a Killer tornado came down, and was chasing me on the highway!, and all i could so was 110Mph. limiting speed should be fined with endangerment to people, and very unsafe.

Wow that sucks....if you took that 2.5 to Europe, you'd be honked at by Clios and Puntos on the highway.

yeah I'm sure we got the HP, especially if my 02 SpecV did and its the same motor pretty much.

How did you hit 120 if the speed is limited to 112mph? Did you remove the governator?
