WOW.

How is it that this can be tolerated?

"The Chair's decision is not subject to question."

Are you freaking kidding me?

Looks like the Representative from the "flyover state" is pounding Murtha like a three-dollar whore.

Good work, Democrats. Nice to see you're upholding the Constitution and providing equal representation.

One more good reason for term limits.

It's usually tolerated because the news does not report on it.

While I don't like Murtha or what is going on in Congress, your dredging up old news to attempt to push your agenda is ridiculous.

This incident happened over two years ago on August 2, 2007. The debate was about sending an agriculture bill back to committee, not passage of law on the floor. You should have realized that all the facts would not be provided if you had noticed that Eric Cantor is providing your piece of video. Cantor may have even less credibility than Murtha.

At the very least you should have dated the video.

It's the first time I saw the video, deal with it. It is what it is and there's no excuse regardless of who did what when. Dem OR Rep

I agree that there is no excuse but please provide all the relevant facts when you present your evidence. People are reacting like it happened this week, which is Cantor's intent. It is two years, one administration and one set of elections old.

I have dealt with it in the best way I know how. Neither the Democrats (the party of Obama and Murtha) nor the Republicans (the party of Bush and Cantor) got my vote. I did not vote for an incumbent and choose to vote FOR someone (third party candidates), not against someone merely by placing X's in the other major party's candidates' boxes.

It comes back to too many people in this country who feel they have to vote Republican or Democrat. They don't.

Really?

I'm weary of hearing about slavery, too. Gotcha by 200+ years on that one.

That's not an attempt to minimize the importance of it, is it? I'd hope not.

How the hell can the reporter be called into question here? I don't care if Satan himself provided the video - the camera don't lie.

By the way, the guy who filmed Rodney King's beating was a child molester and a crackhead. What the hell difference does that make?

If we can't trust them with the little things, how can we entrust to them the greater things?

If it were a Republican, don't you think it would pop up in some news story at least once a month?

Depends on how you present whatever it is you want to debate about slavery. Presenting pictures of slavery's existence in the United States and not also stating that it no longer exists here and tthe pictures are 200 years old in order to attempt to abolish the form of government that condoned it isn't entirely on the up and up. Using those pictures to try to extort money (reparations) out of the current generation whites to give to current generation blacks when both are multiple generations removed from slavery is bogus, too.

I don't like Murtha and what he did in this instance, either. My comment about a bill going back to committee was to point out that it would still have to come back to the floor for a more formal vote. Unfortunately, my best guess on the issue is that the bill didn't have enough of Murtha's pork attached and he railroaded it to add more junk.

Yes, in many instances cameras DO lie. I have no doubt that this video was heavily edited by Cantor and his cronies to make it look as absolutely bad as they could. Without editing I'm sure there's enough there to hang Murtha on but Cantor would never leave it at that. Anyone know where the raw footage would be at CSPAN? I'd love to see the original. That, and why did Cantor sit on it for two years?

And, by the way, I totally disagree with the ruling on the Rodney King incident. Where were the cameras the previous 1/2 hour while he ignored order after order during the chase? The man continued to resist despite multiple non-lethal attempts to subdue him, of which some were not taped. Only the "quick hit" short length edited video was run incessantly on the tv stations for sensationalistic news slots. King's passengers, who complied with police orders getting out of and after getting out of the car were not beaten in any way, shape or form.

I'll go along with that.
