I try to do my reading before posting, but this one has me stumped. I noticed that emissions removal is popular amongst the s13 fellas and i was wondering the exact reason why. Are there any benefits of doing this? Would the removal of these things cause any odors? I tried searching but just got "trying to pass emissions test" stuff. can someone shed some light on this for me?

odors? not really, the cat takes care of that, mostly. lots of people remove egr stuff instead of troubleshooting it when it goes bad, for "weight savings," or for fun, or to slightly simplify a turbo install, but there are no gains from doing it alone and you will most likely get dangerously close to not being able to pass emissions for the increased hydrocarbon output which is the result of increased cylinder head temps from not having EGR.
