Why Premium Fuel only in the G 35

Can anyone tell me why it is recommended to use premium fuel only in the G 35. What happens if you use regular cheap stuff? Can you recommend any particular brand to buy or stay away from. Sorry to sound so dumb but this is my first really nice car. All the others were Fords or GMs. It really did not matter what I put in them they ran the same.

The VQ35 engine's ignition timing is optimized for premium fuel.The factory could have easily optimized it for 87 but then it would have made less power.

Chevron has a good reputation on this board, due to it using one of the better (best?) detergent additives among gasoline vendors.

Other than that, of course the newer the station (and therefore its tanks), the better for your car.
