Why is racing so bad? And why not in a versa?

I have read a number of post on this forum and everytime someone says, "I want to race my versa", everyone gets all butt hurt and tells them why they should get another car to start with. Oh yeah street racing is bad and i am talking about track events or drag strip.

yeah it is easier to buy a evo and build on that for max power. insurrance and other cost will be more than hooking up a versa providing aftermarket parts get made for it.

I had an 11 sec. acura integra that got good gas mileage and only cost me 9k to build. just an example of potiential of 4 banger family cars. I could have got better times but wanted a daily driver that could be a weekend warrior.

Nothing wrong with racing at all if it is on a track. That said, it will definitely stress a car way more than normal everyday driving (ask me how I know) It's tough to race a car that's your daily driver and know it can always get you to work. It's no fun working all night or weekend to fix a problem caused by racing, just to be able to drive to work.

My Versa is low cost transportation. If I want to race I use my Vette.

The basic issue that most people would have with racing in a Versa would be it has 120hp, has a high center of gravity, skinny wheels, etc. Basically the car is design to be an economy car for everyday driving. It is a civic of many years ago, just that civics have enough support to make them a somewhat decent race car (after tons of money).

I tried to ride the Versa hard a few times. It gets wheel hop VERY bad, unless you slip the clutch real bad. If i were to "race" the Versa i would have to go from a roll. Plus the V is just stupid slow. 0-60 is like 11 seconds.

If im going to race anyone, ill race them in the 200SX

Honda's came with 117hp base model. Turbo kits, internals can get you 300+ hp. Y not the v? This car is so easy to work on. I know it sucks if something breaks down but that's what girlfriends and wife's are for.

Theres not alot of aftermarket support for the Versa, like there is for Civics.

I dont feel that working on a brand new car that i am still making payments on, is something that i should "race" and "mod" However, i would love to do little things like get a strut brace to get rid of some of that horrible body roll the Versa has, or even a warm air intake. Thats basically all i see for the future of my Versa.

There are no "Turbo kits" for the Versa, unless you talk to ZPI and want to get a custom turbo manifold made, I have the mag someplace but they use a GT2871 series turbo, 440cc injectors, They made 270whp @15psi on those mods. They also said the transmission couldnt take the abuse from 270whp.

I just dont think the Versa is going to take off in the import world. I would love to see some other mods and some support for the Versa. But you cant compare the Civic to the Versa for aftermarket support cause the Civic will win hands down.

rofl, i just dont think i could justify racing a versa. its not worth it, even though im sure you could make it fast after a lot of money. but if your gonna start with a slow car, start with a cheaper one

Yeah, when they are 10+ yrs old and have kits to put boosted QR25's in them or something, maybe. But doubt that will ever catch on with these cars.

You know what you have so just go out with that thought and have fun with it....if anything it will help you for or if you ever get in a situation on the street you will know how the car handles and it's limits........lot better to spin in a controlled environment then on the street. But just have fun either way.
