Yeah, oil is a useful thing is most cars, not just 240's.

(The oil pump may have failed.)

Let's see. Your car is knocking and the oil light is on.

THESE TWO THINGS MAY BE RELATED.

UHHHH that does not sound good. You are almost for sure not getting enough oil pressure. That could be for any number of reasons( oil pump pump shot, Pan bent and damaged pickup stainer, plugged pickup strainer, oil pump regulator valve ect.) but it requires IMMEDIATE attention regardless. You can test your oil pressure by removing the oil pressure switch( just below and to the right of your oil filter on the block) and connecting a pressure gauge.Check oil pressure with trans in neutral and engine running under no load. You should have approx 11 psi or more at idle.

You should have approx 60-70 psi at 3000 rpm(I wouldn't do this if you fail the test at idle)

If you don't work on cars take it to a shop or at least stop driving it asap before your engine seizes up.( If you have a loud knock you probably need a rebuild anyway mind you)

Hope this helps

Yeah, that one sounds teminal dude. I'm thinking you blew the oil pump (assuming you have oil) or your head gasket blew and you now have a quart of water mixed in with your oil.

Either way, sounds like you need a new motor (or atleast a rebuild) because it was knocking and that means you prolly schorched your bearings.

DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR TILL YOU HAVE IT FIXED!! DON'T EVEN DRIVE IT TO THE SHOP, HAVE IT TOWED.

Well, this guy that's no longer my buddy thought it was alright to hand tighten his oil drain plug. Can you say bye bye SR20DET?

Either all the oil drained out somehow, or oil pump failed. Which ever, good luck, if you turned it off right away and not drive it home. You should be fine.

This on is easy. Your motor is about to blow up. She did good to 5500 rpm, well that is the limit, when you have oil in it. Can you walk with no blood in you. Regardless stop driving, pull the motor begin immediate and needed rebuild befor the damage goes to far and you need a block too. You may not be "knocking" it could be piston slap in which case you broke a wrist pin. Well hell, A wrist pin holds the piston to the rod. If you break it the piston "floats" and the rod bangs into it over and over. If you broke a rod, same story its' a matter of time before it punches a hole in the block. Park it, build it,. Use oil next time, and check for leaks allways every time you back up from a parking place always it's true car guys religion. oil is blood. Players **** up, don't be afraid to ask for help. Next tip: Get a full bus pass it may be cheaper than paying for each ride your going to need it.
