This time, there was nothing in the rims at all, thus my concern. Afraid I may have to bring it in, but I hate doing that because I swear that every other time I bring it in to Infinti, they seem to find $500 or more of needed repairs on things I'm not car savvy enough to know whether I can get the same thing done somewhere else for half the cost. That's one skill I wish I developed. I can wire a generator to my main house panel, repair a computer, replace a faucet etc, but beyond changing tires and fluids, I'm pretty auto stupid.
I totally understand what you mean. It is very true that the dealer may find other items that need "repair" when you take your car in. But to touch on the subject of not being savvy with cars, may I suggest seeing if maybe a local community college has an intro to automotive class? It never hurts to learn! That's how a lot of us get to be savvy!

as far as diagnosing the issue, if you don't have any friends that can help, the dealer may be your best option or a trustworthy local shop.
