cars a 95 with 114000 on the motor.we have changed: radiator radiator hosed both temp sensors by top rad. hose water pump and 2 different thermostatswe have bled the system several times but after it still continues to run really hot. There is no white smoke, and does not look like coolant/oil are mixing. after letting the car run for a while and gets up to 170 the t-stat stays close. WHY!! we took the t-stat out and ran the car down the road, ran fine. didn't overheat.the thing thats got us though is in a pot of boiling water the t-stat opens, but in the car it stays closed

help me please

Are you sure you are bleedin the coolant properly. It may take a while. the way i did it was jack up the front of the car take the rad cap off and let it warm up. With the cap off open the air relief nut on the intake manifold and have sum1 hold the gas at around 3k for as long as you see air bubbles coming out. Once you start to see just coolant coming out, put the rad cap back on. wait a few more seconds then close the air relief. I did it this way and have had no problems.

Yup. What he said. It sounds like you're getting air trapped at the thermostat. I'm not sure if you can install it the wrong way or not, but make sure the air poppet is up. Some guys even go as far as drilling another small hole next to it to help.

By just having too much air in the system and not letting it bleed out all the way.
