Ok here;s the story i have an 1990 nissna 240sx of couse its single cammer and i want a little better platform to work with so i got a twin cam to swap in for free i got the wiring harness ecu coilpack transmission etc... i know the engine runs but for sum reason it does'nt want to i have done twin cam swaps in the past without a hitch but why in my car is this causeing a problem here's the details on one of the swaps i did i had and automatic 1989 240 freind of mine and he wanted to put an ka24de in it the motor and harness was out of an s14 so i knew the harness wouldnt work so i scrounged up an 13 harness also an automatic harness and i redid the body and tcu wiring connectors and fired it right up my car i did a little diffrently. my engine was for an 92 240 automatic but the wiring harness was from a manual so of course it has no tcu plug but anyway i did the norm with the body harness and tried to crank it up no go no spark no fuel i eventually found out the coil ground was bad and regrounded it and presto fuel and spark ok now it starts but not all that great at first it runs ok a little pulsation probably from the plugs but then it dosent want to rev up anymore and when i hit the gas it wants to bog then all of a sunnden it dosent want to idle either now it wont idle for more that 3 sec and takes 4 tries to get it running and if you hit the gas to keep it on it just bogs .? not maf changed it not tps i changed it no vaccumn leaks checked ics is hook up to intake whats the prob? checked the ecu i went through the dignostic and got a 5 slow flash 5 fast flash i checked it meaning all is ok ?? i dont get it?? . but there are 2 diffrences with this swap and the other 1)tcu plug on harness 2)in the process of my swap i pulled all that emissions garbage out i let the stuff on the back of the engine but pulled out the charcol canister and the rest of that stuff . the dizzy was pulled out when i got the engine could i have timed it wrong i timed it to the compression stroke of #1 pulled the vavle cover off to even see where the cam lobes were at and its dead on at tdc of the compresion stroke out of ideas here need help quick please!!!!

also my car was origonally an automatic too did 5sp swap lomg time ago no probs with that. o yeah forgot used single cam starter if that has anything to do with it also sumtimes the engine wants to spin counter instead of clockwise

Have you tried rotating the distributor to see if it is a timing issue?
