I have a single cam 1990 240sx that i bought back in fall 2006 the car had and still has a few issues. when i give the car full throttle it would bog down around 55mph, I have to shift or let off the throttle and let the car slow down for the car to respond, but as soon as i hit around 70mph or so i cant get the car to go any faster. I pulled the codes and got two, one was the air temp sensor, and the other was the speed sensor curcit. my speedo works so i dont know am lost at this point. The air temp sensor I dont really think It it that important so am not really worried about that.

My upper rad host burst so i put on a new one. The next day another hose bursted, it's the one that goes to the throttle body, then the hose under the intake manifold. The car dose not smoke or sputter it idles around 750-800rpms solid.

sounds like you might be overheating, causing excessive pressure, try changing your radiator cap, that way next time it will open and send the water to the resevoir instead of bursting hoses

Ok i will do that but what could be causing the car to overheat? what is the normal temp the engine should be when fully warmed up? my gauge reads 250*, maby I should just change the radiator also what do you think?

i would start with a compression test. to make sure everything is good and you arent chasing imaginary gremlins, after that look for water leaks.

250 is high you need to check to make sure your getting flow , could be a bad thermostat a clogged radiator or a bad water pump.

are those the only things that I need to check? I want to replace erything that can be prone to causing my car to run hot.

how deep are your pockets? lol

you can go as far as new rad,add efan, hoses, pump, tstat, flush, flush, flush. all this will not help if you have a bad hg!

If you're serious, its not that hard or expensive (relatively) to replace your coolant system.

Thermostat is $8.00 from the dealership, Radiator is $100 and some change from radiatorbarn.com, hoses are under $30 for upper and lower, the overflow hose can be bought in length at the local auto parts, radiator cap should be around $13.

flush it 3x times with distilled water and fill properly to avoid bubbles in the system.

Other things that could be wrong: fan clutch is going out and causing fan to operate incorrectly (less likely), a clog or built up deposits in the system (?)

dont forget water pump, thirty nine dollars from an auto parts store. i just started working on my friends s13 and we've replaced the water pump, thermostat and radiator cap, now where going for the radiator to try and fix his cooling problem. his runs about 250-260, my s14 runs about 160, 130's or lower on a cold day, thanks to koyo, nismo and flexalight

You may want to check the head gasket. If cyllinder compression is getting into your coolant system, it can raise pressures signifigantly. Usually when that happens the radiator will split, but I guess the weakest point would go first. I would go with killablu240 and do the compression test.
