i've been hearing from many people that you cannot put a 2-way diff in a vsld carrier while many others tell me it will work just fine. i can't find a straight answer on this. i have a 93' hatch with hicas and i'm trying to put my 2-way diff in there. i have a carrier for it but it has 5 hole axles on the carrier so it obviously wont bolt up to the six hole stock axles. so my other question is, if i were to use the carrier that has the 5 hole axles, would i be able to swap out those axles with my stock 6 hole axles? OR, would i be better of finding a set of j30 drive axles to go with it?

and also, just so i don't have to start a new thread and this is the tech forum....i've been having some wack *** electrical problems. my seatbelts only retract when the key is turned to the on position, my windshield wipers make 2 passes every time i start my car, my warning chime stopped working, and for some odd reason my car keeps thinking a door is open. i thought it was the hatch so i disconnected the sensor but that didn't help anything. someone said my interior control unit thingie must be effed up and if i replace it then that should fix my problems.anyway..... i guess i need quite a bit of answers sooooo PLEASE HELP!!

you should get the j30's axls and as far as i know if its a r200 cariar, as long as it's designed for it, then you can put in any limited slip you want in it. whether it's a 1 way, 1.5 way, or 2 way it shouldn't matter.

i got a friend with a r200 from an r32 that came with a 1 way vlsd and now has a 2 way in it. by the way it's scary as hell when its wet out in his car; just a warning (he has an '89 240 hatch).

you should check the timing control box. also check for a wiring short somewhere.

the TCU has no bearing on the seatbelts. It almost sounds as if someone has messed with the wiring behind the dash. I would recommend pulling the gauge bezel and taking a look to see if there's been any cuts in the wires.

Also, check to make sure that someone hasn't messed with the door latch mechanism inside the door. There's a switch that completes a circuit to make the seatbelts go forward. If it's stuck in the on position, your seatbelts will stay forward because the car thinks the door has been opened. Disconnect the switch and see if your seatbelt retracts to the default poistion towards the rear of the car.

nah its not the tcu i was talking about, its the seat belt controller. and the seat belts aren't stuck in one position, its just that they will only work when the key is turned. i'm gonna put a different controller in there and see if it helps anything.

yea i found out today that since i have hicas my carrier is not the same and i will need to use my other one. but i think i'm going to put my stock axles in until i find a set of j30's cuz right now i just wanna get that diff in there
