Why is it so hard to find cheap running L-series?

Honestly I've been looking for well over a year and just can't seem to find any. Everybody wants $1000 or something crazy for engines with blown headgaskets or without transmissions. Found a parts car locally for cheap but I just don't have room for one.

There's a 3.1L stroker for sale on hybrid Z that I think may be worth it. Is 2500 shipped a good price for one?

I guess because you aren't in a part of the country where the cars rust away leaving running engines littering the landscape, serouusly, here the cars rust away so everyone saved the engines and now the engines have no value as there are no cars to put them in, that motor seemed like a good deal, the cast pistons are the only issue I have but if you ever melted one you'd just need a new set of forged pistons

wat year is your z?

im parting my car since the rust has pwned me and my realistically returning it a driveable state in a decent amount of time...

i got a 78 so its the 2.8 liter, ran great before i started disassembling it... im not sure what you were looking or how to go about shipping it, but if u seriously want a good motor shoot me a price for the long block.... ill probably sell the intake separate

Yeah that might be the problem. I might buy that motor actually, talked to my dad about it and he said to go for it. It's 2200 shipped now so I have to jump on it quick.

Forged pistons cost a bit but I wouldn't be doing much racing so I doubt they would melt. Even if they did I can rebuild the motor myself.

You're in San Antonio, go check the junk yards, you should have no problem finding a motor. It may not be running, but you should be able to find one cheap.

I have 5 L-series motors, I only paid for one, and on that I only paid $150

Theres a junkyard here with a 280ZX with "running" l28 he'd probably sell for $200-300
