They really look like steel bolts to me. What is special about them?

Thanks, Drake.

Actually the bolts used on the pan are "self-sealing", this means they have some sort of sealant applied to the last few threads, prventing the ATF from sipping through and leaking - reason why you are supposed to replace them once you remove them.

If in a bind, I assume you can add a little bit of RTV to the threads, instead and reuse the bolts...The only risk is to end up with some sort of leak....

Note: These are very small bolts that don't need to be tighten that much (unfortunately I don't have the specs handy)

Bingo for MintQ45A!

Yes, they are self sealing.

Allright! For me any sort of leak is unwanted, so it's worth it to get the OEM bolts. IOS offers filter and gasket separately, I guess if I order both I will get the bolts.

Get interior screen filter and O ring also.

The pan kit includes all.

As I recall (it's been 3 years) the kit has filter, o-ring, pan gasket and one-time use bolts.

.......and the drainplug crush-washer

Order the transmission external filter located up behind the radiator if your Q has one also- the most neglected filter on the whole car

True but from what I have seen from wes' post, it is some what useless unless the transmission is really neglected.

When you changed yours did you reverse blow out all the fluid and metal particles in it?

Can you send it for testing like oil?

Single most important filter to maintain to extend the life of your transmission........why Infiniti went to the expense to add it after all the early Q transmission failures

I just ordered the kit, and another item described as filter from IOS - the web page is not crystal clear as to what these items are, nor was the person with whom I spoke... I hope to get both the internal and external filters. I'll find out in a few days.

Yes, you can. I imagine all oil analitics places will do a/t fluid, but I know for sure Blackstone will do all engine lubricants.

I think this is the page you're talking about. The internal transmission filter kit is the first item on the page. A few commas in the description would have been helpful to figure out what you're getting:

http://www.trademotion.com/par...row=1

This kit contains the parts needed to replace the internal filter except the one-time use pan bolts. It's a good deal at $49 plus shipping:

> Pan gasket> Drain Plug crush washer> Internal transmission filter and it's o-ring

I looked back through my reciepts and the IOS kit may not have contained replacement bolts. By the way it's listed I may have ordered the parts separately. I stand corrected.

I've had a lot of problems ordering from IOS ever since Joe moved up the corporate ladder and isn't as readily available for phone orders. Here's the P/N's from previous orders (internal filter only) for everything but the one-time bolts. Compare them to what gets delivered to your door and hope for the best. Prices are from 1/07.

No, the internal screen filter is actually different even though the transmission is the same. Same for the fuel filter.

All else is the same, except no external filter, of course.

Five years later and I still learn new things on this forum.
