Dealer chumped me into a $100 service discount book with lifetime Saturday car washes...went in for the first one over the weekend, they returned my car scratched and dirty, said they would buff it out Monday....Monday took 7hrs for an oil change and buffing out the scratches...car was returned with a door ding that looks like a broom fell on it or something high up on the door...they insist they didn't do it....Obviously I will no longer go to that dealer for service...although I'm not too sure how I'm going to get them to pay for it.....The bigger problem is why am I not surprised?...Too many dealerships get away with poor service....I expect the next dealer I go to for service won't be my last.

Three letters: D.I.Y.

When you want a good service: Do it yourselves !

That is sad but true. It is not funny to wash you car on a cold day with cold water, but at least I know it is done correctly.Reminds me I will have to do it soon, Brrr!!

Me too. I almost had the time one month ago, but was stopped by something else after the wash.I hope to get a warmer weekend soon and some free time to be able to do it.

I will probably have to promise my wife I will do her car too in order to get some free time: two cars to wash in autumn = Lots of cold fingers planned .

I know what you mean kingjman. Good service with a nissan is hard to come too. The past 3 months I brought my Rogue in for the TSB for the sending unit and a rattle. When doing a test drive i heard a new noice so when i got back to the dealer i checked everything from the stuff in my trunk to the latches and i was like holly s***t the dealer broke my latch on my back seat. Told my service advicer and they showed no sympathy and ordered the part. Two weeks later i called then for my service light being on so i brought it back in. In that process of retreving the codes they shorted out my ECU or computer and then i was the WTF. I had to walk 8 miles to work while my parents called then up and balled them out. Then my service light came on again and they refused to service my car so i called Consumers Affairs and reported them. But it was a good feeling to tell my purchased dealer how good there service was. Ramsey NISSAN serviced my car and replaced everything within the same day and was out in 3hrs vs. 5hrs. SO FOR ALL YOU CENTRAL JERSEYY RESIDENTS DONT USE ACME NISSAN IN SOUTH BRUNSWICK. NOT TO MENTION BESIDES THE SEAT LATCH THEY BROKE A CLIP OFF MY WEATHER STRIPPING AND DIRTED THE INSIDE OF MY BACK DOORS.

This is the MAJOR reason I HATE to take my vehicles back into the d-ships and why I take them into quick lube shops, I can stand right in front of the techs and watch their every move. I'm not allowed to do this in the d-ships. The techs, car washers, and drivers the d-ships use could care less about your vehicle (they turn the radio volume high, readjust the mirrors, seats, track dirt/grease inside etc). I have had extremely, excellent results with my Lexus, Infiniti, and Hyundai d-ships, however their is a lot to be desired with Nissan and Mazda.

Back in 1999 I bought a new Pathfinder. Soon after purchase I had trouble with the ds window motor. I took it in and they repaired it. As I walked out to my vehicle I noticed that the back door on the ds had been scrapped by what looked like them scrapping a post or another car. I talked to the service writer and of course he denied them doing it. I KNEW for a fact this was done by this d-ship (I KNOW every nick and scratch on EVERY one of my vehicles), I then talked to the service manager and he had an attitude and told me they didn't do it. So I left extremely pissed. I ended up paying $200.00 to have this repaired. A few nights later I took a razor blade back to the d-ship and casually walked around "looking". Left feeling really proud. Never used this d-ship again. Just this year this d-ship was closed by Nissan for committing fraud leaving 100's of Nissan owners wondering if they were even going to get to keep their cars. None of the downpayments were documented and paperwork was never forwarded on vehicles financed through NMAC. Karma is a wonderful thing!

So, if you believe in Karma, you will be hit back sooner or later for you little razor blade visit, right?

helps explain why service costs at dealerships are so high!

So it was ok for them to laugh in my face for doing $200.00 worth of damage to my vehicle and me accept that? Yeah I can admit I did something wrong, but they couldn't, so I look the worst for it?

Maybe I will be paid back, who knows? Why call me out on something when any of you would be just as upset as I was. As far as I know in my Buddhist teachings, karma doesn't continue, one bad deed cancels out the other.

Service costs are so high so the d-ship can pad their bank accounts by ripping people off, $250.00 rust proofing, $200.00 pin stripes, $15.00 shop fee? Give me a break!!

Yikes. Sounds like some of you need to take date stamped photos as you drop off your vehicles at the dealership. The Nissan dealer we use is ok. We certainly haven't had any such problems with them.

The Honda dealership that we go to for our other car is a bit of a drive but totally worth it. They have an excellent service center. Generally, though, I take the other car to an independent shop that I trust for non-DIY items (anything beyond an oil/filter change pretty much).

Funny you bring this up takeshi, After my incident, I make the service writer walk around the vehicle with me so he can note on the work order that no damage is found on the car before they take the car back, like returning a rental car. This should be common practice at ALL d-ships. I've met with opposition but they do it.
