it mostly has to do with track avalability cost etc. I personally would love to run 1/4 mile but i dont have any within 2hrs of me.it also has to do with everyone getting too fast. they are trying to cut down on the deaths.

The closest 1/4 to me is aprox 4 hrs, the closest 1/8th is 20 mins.

However i will be making the trip to Nopi this year (i hope) at Epping NH. i hope to get my first 1/4 mile pass then

Agreed, pretty much location. Although there is a 1/4 drag an hour and a half or so away, but all their cars are hundreds of thousands of times faster than mine, so sometimes I just stay home and cry quietly in a corner and scorn my car..jk

OH and the BIGGEST reason a lot of people run the 1/8th mile?

Cause people can say they have a 10-second car... just in the 1/8 but it still sounds cool

all the 10.5 classes (easy street, heavy street, limited street, outlaw) all run 1/8 mile now, and alot of bracket series run 1/8 mile for the weekend racer just cause its easier on equipment.

like alot of other people said, location is a big factor also the fact that more and more racers have less to spend in this economy. & 1/8 mile racing is much cheaper as a whole wether your talking gas/wear etc etc

Same here, closet 1/4 mile to me is about 2 hrs. I really don't like 1/8 mile at all for my car, it sucks. I wish all tracks were just 1/4 mile tracks.
