Had three of these 2000s.

Traded the 69 roadrunner for a beautiful yellow 68 with a LOT of mi & wear - Loved it!

Bought a Blue 70 very low mi & tight, but ugly paint & a bunch of beerdents - Loved it.

Sold the yellow bought the red, then sold the blue also. Red had 68K & I added another 100K, good pwr, gr8 mileage, very low maintenance - I loved it!

They were fun little cars, the best interpretation of the small british roadster until the Miata appeared. They would run away and hide from anything in their class, except Alfas and Porsches adn BMW 2002.

I am in the market for a Roadster...

Keeping any eye open for the "right" one - Gotta be close to perfect bodywise, no rust. Can deal wih chrome pitting, mechanical issues, and interior...

Preferably a 2000, but a 1600 would be fun as well.

If I get a 1600 I won't mind modding it - if a 2000, it'll be totally stock (except maybe wheels / tires).

What would one of these in decent condition sell for?

2000 had many improvements over the 1600. But you could probably bring the 1600 up to 2000 specifications by replacing enough.

I am too old to go back to carburetors.

They vary so much, it's hard to tell.

Earlier models are more desireable, obviously..

Well-restored or good original 2000's go for upwards of $10K.

I have seen rough but restorable ones for as low as $3K... most are between $4-8K.

August 23, 2004Datsun Roadster ReinventedHave you ever wondered what a modern interpretation of the Datsun Roadster would look like? Take a look at this Japanese company's efforts to reinvent the Roadster.

The 2000 engine & the 1600 are totally different motors, no parts in common.

The Elan has its many high points and an incredibly loyal following, but the Miata clones it while eliminating all of its faults.

Yeah, and that's a FWD Ford Elan, not the real Colin Chapman designed original.
