On Memorial Day my brother, his passenger and I took a ride to the shore for lunch. My brother rides a 2009 Harley Rocker C, and I was on my 2002 Harley VRSCA. We took the white horse pike home so we weren’t feet up feet down the entire way. We stopped for gas and some waters in Galloway Township and pulled back out. We made it about one block when things went bad. A vehicle traveling the opposite way did not see us and as we were approaching an intersection (green light) the SUV turned right into our path. My brother never had a chance to hit the brakes, I was about 10 feet behind him and I somehow was able to lay the bike down and ride the blacktop before hitting the SUV.

My brother is in ICU, his has crucial critical injuries and a LARGE number of broken or shattered bones and has undergone a lot of surgery so far. He is in a medically induced coma still. His passenger shattered her hand, and wrist, and ripped tendons, shattered her collar bone, 8 broken ribs, shattered leg ankle and foot, she is stable after a few operations. My left arm was ripped out of the socket and in my chest, my right shoulder is broken, and I have no skin on right arm.

So if you understand please keep us in your thoughts, I am staying with family because I cannot dress myself, and I need help doing most things. I have filed our disabilities insurances but we need help there too. So if you can help in anyway please let me know my email is [email protected] we are setting up a beef and beer benefit and we are taking donations to help us until the insurances kick in which takes a while. BE CAREFUL OUT THERE RIDERS. We were safe, we never expected this to happen and it has altered our lives forever. I will never ride again!

WOW!

Got to be careful on those bikes. I don't ride myself because of buddies who have been hurt in the past. Goodluck with the family!

Stay safe, prayers are with you

Hope you and your family get well soon. It's a shame that the most dangerous bit about riding a motorcycle is having to worry about the negligence of other people on the road.

No matter how safe you drive, you're at the mercy of other drivers. That's the real crappy thing about riding a bike, safety isn't only your responsibility, but others' as well. I know when I'm driving, I'm always conscious of EVERYthing around me, If I get drowsy, I'll stop driving for the day until I get some rest. I hope you, you're buddy, and his passenger heal well and fast OTW. Time Heals everything. It's a sad moment when you get in an almost fatal accident due to the negligence of other drivers. Get well soon, my condolences to all of you.

I wish the best to you and your family and friends. I have a lot of friends that ride and a few that have been in some bad accidents but luckily not involving other vehicles. That is always the worst. Please update this thread as you can, i want to hear that you are all moving towards recovery.

Take care,
David

OMG that is terrible... It is kind of ridiculous how bad people are at driving and how much they don't pay attention. I deliver pizzas for work and granted that I am in an actual car, I probably dodge at least 5 potential accidents a week. People just don't pay attention, and if they cannot spot an approaching car, motorcycles are out of the question.

Anyways, thank god your alive after an accident that bad. There recently was an accident in my town (which is quite small) in which a motorcyclist was a victim of road rage and his wife died in his arms. I am glad that all three of you made it out alive and I wish the best for your brother.

I'm so sorry to hear that and my heart goes out to you guys. My little brother was taken away from me by cruel senseless people as well. I truly hope the best for you guys. That's a big reason why I recently sold my Triumph Daytona 675. I got tired of worrying about other people rather being able to enjoy the ride.

Get well soon man, I hope your brother can have a full recovery as well. Some drivers just shouldn't be on the road, sorry you had to be the consequence of that :(

Thanks guys this is the beef and beer and we have some good stuff to raffle off. So if your local please come. We had to pack my brother apartmement up and put it in storage, we paid for 6 months, I'll be honest taking care of his and my bills it's hard so if you can donate anything please do it [email protected] via paypal as a gift. I never thought I would need help eating, washing, dressing, it sucks it really does. I feel like a damn t rex.

Same here. I see the thread title, and I'm thinking good things. Like maybe OTW has been busy on a new project, maybe traveled a little, etc. Then the words just hit you. And the news video just made it sink in even more.

This happened in my neck of the woods. Last year I almost got nailed a mile from that exact intersection. Same thing, some piece of s**t, not paying attention at all, turns in front of me. I managed to avoid him, but it shook me up enough to not have ridden since then.

OTW, my thoughts go out to the three of you. I'll be attending that event.

That is very much appreciated. Kevin- if you'd like this to be your official thread, we can start posting it on facebook and stuff as well.

Guys- as has been mentioned before, Kevin won't be in here nearly as much for a while. Some of us other mods are trying to step in but hey he's got some big sheos to fill :)
If there is a problem, please use the thread report system so it gets brought to our attention.
