Long story short. The SCCA Northeast Divisionals was hosted in NJ this past weekend, we got shut down on day two because two jackasses racing down a public road killed someone on a motorcycle, and the Meadowlands decided to close up shop on everyone there. The two douchebags that were street racing we're bringing cars to a lot that was being rented by the guy who runs a website that glorifies street racing and breaking the law on public roads (superspeeders.com). I was not very upset about getting closed down, as it's probably for the better since media was going to show up shortly, but the fact that a father wasn't going to come home that night to his family made me ill.

Folks, driving like an ***hole on the street doesn't get you anything. It doesn't make you faster, it doesn't teach you anything, all it does is put lives at risk. I have a wall full of trophies and accolades, none of them, nor the skills required to earn them came from breaking the law. I drive like a grandma on the road because I respect human life and safety.

They seem kind of douchey.

I like driving fast at a slow pace. Mash down my right foot, get a whole lot of noise and drama, and find myself doing a mind-bending 45mph. :)

Anyone who wants to drive on a public road at an illegal speed should consider going to the middle of Utah where there's unlikely to be other people. (Or, you know, go to a track.)

^Kudos to the forum. You guys should drop by the AC section every so often, you get things like this every once in a while.

Yeah, Altima Coupe vs 911 turbo.

I honestly believe that most of the people that partake in this kind of behavior have never had ANY kind of accident more serious than a fender bender. After my accident (not racing, commuting actually) I drove like a snail for months. I had nightmares about that s***. I can safely say Im more often than not a defensive driver now.

I de-stroy-ed one of my Skylines on a togue run when both front tires blew. My driving style has not changed much. I have little fear of death. I do worry about some of my fellow drivers and if I choose to chill out it's more for the safety of others than my own. Having someone at home who would not want to identify your body at the morgue is also a powerful incentive to grow up some.
