Why hasn't Infiniti recalled the M's driver seats?

I can't believe as many times I have seen M35 and M45 listings here concerning the breaking of the drivers seat frame.
Is there anyone from Infiniti out there reading these forums? This I would think would be a safety item. What would happen if a person was in a car accident with one of these broken drivers seats? Would the drive hit the air bag as intended, or would they fly to the left of it since the right rear of the seat is no longer attached to the frame? Why would Infiniti wait for someone to get seriously injured in an accident when they know there is a design flaw in the way these seats were welded?

I will agree. I had mine fixed at 40kmi and I think it's going again, now at 133kmi.

I heard about people having issues with the seat when I first got the car. I didn't want to have a problem so I turned off my auto moving seat feature and I haven't had any issues with the steam or it's frame. 157,000 miles on my car too.

yeah, mine broke and the seat leaned into the console. I replaced the right rear seat mount bolt with a longer one, and shimmed the seat back up to where the seat was level. It actually moves and everything, but I am afraid if I ever got into an accident, I have no idea where I would end up. It can't be safe!! I have heard that you can pull the seat and strip the seat cover back and take it to a welding shop and have them fixed. I was just wondering if Infiniti would do this as part of a recall. After all, I know this is a design flaw as they only "tack" welded the brace instead of welding it completely like they should have. Gee, let's save $1 and only weld it part ways. REALLY? I thought Infiniti was "Quality", until something like a seat brace breaks. I have never heard of this on any other car.

Ive done the same as EniGmA1987 - haven't had a problem.

But i can see this being a serious safety hazard.

At about 162K took the car to the autobody shop. They removed the driver seat and repaired all the damage. It is now solid and at 165K still holding. Yes, there is an issue and probably a recall would be in order.

Recalls are reactionary. Sadly, it will take 4-5 deaths or serious injury caused by this defect, specifically, before any action will take place. Personally, my seat base was replaced under the extended warranty I purchased when I bought my car and saved me over $1,000. My service writer says its the 3rd one she has seen with the same issue

I bought an extended warranty plan for my M35X, and they said structural stuff was not covered. :-(

Bummer. I would guess they just didn't want to spend the money!!

Did you get the Elite warranty discussed extensively on this site? If not, that's too bad. That's the only warranty one should buy.
