I was just curious what are the pros and cons of the dual intake system, like on my 07 G sedan? it seems like if one throttle body messes up, or one air filiter gets cloged or some, what would happen?

also, if you wanted to put a turbo on, would you have to put 2 on, one for each throttle body?

just some random things i was thinking about, thanks!!

Nissan used dual TB back in 1990 thru 1996 on 300zx and J30 as a method to reduce restriction by 2-3% when you are looking to squeeze out that last 6-10 HP withput increasing displacement while meeting emissions [limits of mild cams].

Obviously the extra $500 they spent was the most cost effective method for the power increase.

Every cylinder flows slightly differently so having a MAF measure 3 and individually just adjust for 3 creates improvememts also.

After all individual TB and stacks are the ultimate in NA.

Make it as hard as possible to add aftermarket parts and screw up their work of art.

It does make things more difficult for FI...A twin turbo would be ok, but a supercharger would need special piping to make it work. The good thing is that you have redundancy with 2 TBs. If you have a failure with one, you won't be stranded.

Before being so affirmative about TB I would disco a maf and or TB to see the result.

The old [90-96] dual TB designs were mechanically coupled together and were split from a single MAF.

I don't think there is a mechanical connection between the TB's. They are drive by wire and are most likely computer controlled.

Do they still even have MAFs?? (could have went with MAP or Membrane sensor arrangement)

The only reason it would go down is due to more aggressive driving...the sound is addictive!

Get 'em! The warranty is not voided. The only thing is to not over-oil the filter elements when you clean them (after 10-20k miles or so).

FYI, the factory warranty is only invalidated when an aftermarket part causes the problem. For example, if you put on a supercharger and your engine blows, the engine is not covered...however if your power seat breaks its still covered even though you have a supercharger....make sense?

Doesn't hurt to clean both sides of the throttle butterfly every once and a while either.

All power is made by burning fuel. You need air to burn fuel more air you can get into the motor the more fuel you can burn.

I put dual filters and 4" pipe on my Hemi ;-)

All the fastest cars have at the min dual filters..

Gwoods:

Do you think the G-35 can be fitted with dual air filters? Do you think there will be a tendency to excessively lean out the air-fuel mixture with such a set up for a G-35?

You talking the single-intake VQ35DE or the VQ35HR (which is already dual-intake)?

No reason (or easy way) to run dual filters on the DE

I've seen intakes that have dual paths for the G35...the only application that it was for was twin turbos. I'll try to dig up the pic....

Joe603:

I would love to see it for the DE. Wonder if it will add more power or just cause A/F mixture to be extra lean?
