Everyone says its easier to drop in the SR with the transmission attatched, but common sense suggests otherwise. I was going to just listen to everyone, but my mechanic friend who is helping me insists that we should do it the other way "You always break something doing it like that and that tranmission is pretty light, why the hell would you drop it in assembled?!" And I don't have a good answer for him...SO...

Why drop in the SR with transmission attatched? :help

its alot harder, and more time consuming if you take off the transmission, because its kinda hard to line up the trany and engin from under the car.

yes, it is actually quite easy to drop in the motor with the transmission attached, the transmission kinda acts like a shoehorn :)

If thats not enough try getting to the bellhousing bolts once the engine is in. Its a tight fit between engine and firewall.

No one hasn't complained yet about breaking something while dropping in the engine/transmission in together. So I don't see why not, maybe your mechanic friend just wants to squeeze more money outta you?
