Why don't my gauges work?

Information on the naturally-aspirated KA24E and KA24DE engines.

Hey I did an E to DE swap. I changed the tach with the DE and everytime I start the motor the tach does not work. I can't tell if the speedometer works because the car isn't drivable yet. And my temp gauge is always doing funny stuff like going up past the H mark.

try swapping over to a dohc cluster.

Right, the cluster.

I'm not sure if you have to have the DOHC cluster and tach, but you probably need the cluster atleast, for sure.

i did get the dohc tach.. now i swapped it with the whole cluster. but nothing :S the lights don't even work in the cluster. it blinks like three times when i turn the car on but nothing :S. and my fuel gauge don't work. nothing works dammit. and after i installed the dohc cluster it had a cel. and it was always on even tho my cars not on. iunno if its becuz its not connected or anything or if it means something :S

check the ecu to see what codes you're getting.

how do you check the ecu? i've never worked with ob1 cars before?
