how many times, and for how long does it turn over before it catches?
If you run the starter for too long it will fail. Also, between each attempt you should wait for awhile before doing it again.
Also, try putting it into ACC for 10 seconds, and THEN starting it and see if it works better that way. If it does, I would think you have a fuel pressure leak somewhere maybe.
I beleive typically the KA24DE takes about 1.5 seconds to start due to the fact that fuel is still injected sequentially during startup where most other cars are non-sequential during startup. Sequential doesnt work very well with such low engine RPMs during startup. I could be wrong about this though.
