No, its not because the clutch is a mouse. I already checked.

Every time I depress the clutch pedal the clutch squeaks. It is not the pedal itself, it is from somewhere under the car. The squeak is comical in nature, sounding like a dog's squeaky toy.

If you have seen the movie "Snatch" it sounds like when the dog eats the squeaky toy. Kinda wheezy and just hilarious. But I have no idea what would be causing it.

I initially thought (after the mouse idea) it might be the throw out bearing, but I had a friend check it out and he didn't think that was the culprit. Might still be the problem, but I have no idea to be honest. In my illustrious 8-year history working on Nissans, I have never encountered this problem.

I should add the clutch works perfectly. Grabs hard, has never slipped, and pedal feel is normal. Truck is a 98 Frontier XE 4x4, 123k miles, ka24de.

Perhaps the clutch fork needs greasing? Maybe my master cylinder (or slave) is trying to tell me its on its way out?

I have no clue. Please share your thoughts.

My only thought is you should have someone else depress the clutch while you crawl around underneath to locate the "mouse". There's not a lot of moving parts so it should be easy to trap. (pun intended)

OK, so it's not my only thought but I can't mention some of the others here.

I have to agree, look under the truck while someone cycles the pedal for you. That's how I found my e-brake squeak.

I found a couple of times the ball the fork pivots on gets dry and squeaks.

Mine does it now and then, a little oil on the linkage under dash and on the seal on firewall shuts it up for a while.

My '97 had this squeak on the lever that's pushed in by the slave cylinder. I could spray that area down with some lubricant and quiet it down for a while, but eventually it came back... might have been using the wrong kind of lube though.
