so today i drove my car for like 45min straight, and when i got home i forgot to let my car cool down. then when i came back out of my house and tried to leave it wouldn't stay running. so i left in my other car and let it cool off and now it runs fine. does anyone know what causes this?

when the car won't start, will the engine turn with the starter? or do you get nothing when you turn the key?

it will like start but won't stay running and it runs really rough. I tried to drive it it would stutter up to 5 lbs then take off like it normally would from 5 to 10lbs.

I'd suspece the AMF or the connector, a litte die electric grease in the connector is a good idea, and so we're clean at vacue the car won't hardly run but once you get up to about 5 psi o boost the car runs good?

CHTS? but I don't think it would casue ti to run that badly, or perhaps the IAC stuck open so it can't stay running at iwarm dle?

Umm... Just what were you trying to accomplish by doing this?

DOH! you did the turbo dsm fuel pressure in a vice trick and then the trouble started!? then yeah your flooding the thing, time for a new fpr

if the problem started when you crushed the fpr, then you should have no reason to look for any other explanation, which depending on the amount of pressure, which I am gonna guess is pretty high you could be damaging your fuel pump, too much back pressure will cause the pump to work a lot harder and shorten it's life, I suggest you pick up a decent AFPR, I have the aeromotove on my car but unless your getting into the 14=20 psi range I think the less expensive bosch should suit your needs

It's VERY difficult for a fuel injected car to suffer from vapor lock. There's usually too much fuel pressure. You're flooding your engine. It's also possible you've broken the internal seal in the FPR and are dumping raw fuel into the intake plenum via the vacuum lines.

check your plugs. My guess is you've fouled them so much they may take time to come around. Or just put in new ones.

white smoke indicates burning coolant, lets hope you don't have a blown HG, have you messed with the timing? does it backfire all the way through or only under boost? if the timing is retarded too far you'll be burning the charge as the exhaust valves open, I've also seen the optical distributors fail intermitantly which can casue a similar issue, did the plugs look fowled or did they look hot? just wondering if it couldn't be a fuel pump that can't keep up but they tend to be problems under boost not at idle

it runs fine all the way throught till it warms up and after it warms up till boost hits 5lbs idk. im starting to wonder if my timing belt skipped a notch, but wouldn't that affect it even if it was cold?

Wow! You're an impatient bastard, aren't you?

You're getting too much fuel. Figure out why. Bad injectors. Bad fuel pressure. Bad ECU. Bad FPR. etc.

ok so now it won't even rev to 1200rpm and it sounds like it misses right away when i start it now. so basically it is getting worse the more things i fix.

hows your plug wires? I had a bud with a escort that behaved similarly and he heven replaced the wires twice before gettng a set that fixed the problem? could be a MAS issue? AICV? Fuel pump? these are the things I would look at?
