I have a 97 180sx type x which is struggling at them moment. It used to accelerate fast and in second gear you could fill the turbo wind up and just fly but then there were times every now and then that it would struggle. It sort of felt like there was something holding it back. I would accelrate and it wouldnt move like it should. Now it does it quite a bit. Any ideas?

The other thing is, (i didnt want to start a seperate post) that on take off up a hill when the weather is cold meaning the car is cold, if i press accelerator nothing would happen at first, then the engine would roar. I mean the engine doesnt budge and the revs do not move for about a second. The peadl goes down but no response from the engine. Something doesnt feel right with the car. Any ideas on what it might be? I will take it to a mechanic if i cant figure it out but i would like to do some research before i do.

Far too many things to check but since you have OBD2 your life is a bit easier. So what kind of Check Engine Light Codes are you seeing?

Check the Knock Sensors, Throttle Position Sensor, MAF sensor, Idle Air Control Valve/Auxiliary Air Control valve and intake cleanliness for starters.

I like Paul Wall. He gives good no nonsense advice...

Anyways x2 for knock sensor and a snap throttle test to rule out clogged exhaust. You prob have a test pipe anyways though?
