Why does it stall???

Hey it just got my 300zx tt from japan about 5 days ago i love it to death but jusy want to know why does it stall. ex. i will be driving in 3rd about 4000rpm's and i will put the clutch in and wait to down shift but if i wait to long the rpm's will go SO low that it stalls out any ideas??

Is that the only time you can replicate the problem? Does it idle?
