I'm pretty sure most cars have coolant lines running through the throttle body. It is there to prevent icing in colder climates.

so does that mean for us SR guys in Florida with hot weather we can just disconnect those lines?

I deleted the coolant lines on the TB of my E36 M3, but I will add this disclaimer:

At low throttle positions(i.e. cruising), there is a HUGE pressure drop across the throttle body. This in turn causes the air to drop rapidly in temperature(ideal gas law, PV=nRT, drop P and T has to drop as well). Quite often, this will be below the freezing temperature of water at atmospheric pressure, even on a relatively warm day.

Now, the only saving grace of this effect, is that as the pressure and temperature drop, so does the freezing point of water. So it won't actually freeze at 32*F due to the very low pressure.

Moral of the story - You can probably get away with it in a cooler climate, but you're running the risk of the TB icing even if it isn't really cold outside. Do at your own risk.

The engine idling higher at cold start is controlled by the Idle Air Control Valve.

on a turbo motor you may not want to ditch the coolant lines. the part throttle pressure drop will be that much more sever with boost. i got rid of them on my old honda accord i had. did not notice any difference.
