lol... it had suspension technique, HKS, and nismo stickers on the car... dude, the sway bars were stock, theres no trace of any kind of HKS stuff in the car (cept the sticker), and where's the nismo? all it had was some eibach pro-kits. not to mention the stickers that were in the car, and the seat covers too Oh, and it came with some rims... man did my uncle not know about offsets back then

Flame me, but I saw an episode of Initial D four years ago. I became fascinated by drifting, and started looking up cars that are commonly used for drifting. I kept coming across Silvias and 180SX's on the internet. I fell in love with the 180SX, and I was very excited when I learned that a watered down version of it badged as the 240SX was sold in the U.S. I knew I had to have a 240SX hatchback, and I finally found a 5-speed one locally, which took over a year of searching after I got my license.

Mainly, i got sick and tired of the way my cavalier drove, its a 3 speed automatic 2.2L so the drivetrain sucks. I absolutely loved the J-body look ever since i saw one, but after riding in my friends rx7 and 240sx... i knew i had to find a car with more potential, since I wanted to get into autocrossing. I'd never heard of drifting, I just wanted the 240 cuz,1: 4 cylinder 2.4L dohc was a must, still great mileage while good performance.2: upgrading (to me) to a 5 speed because i wanted to race it, and i finally learned how 2 drive a standard transmission, so it was way more fun2drive.3: I absolutely loved the hatchback design. I still love all forms of 2 door fast/hatch cars, generally they all look real sweet to me. the big back window kinda reminded me of my cavy.4: The car i found already had KYB AGX struts, eibach sportlines combo, along w/ numerous other tastey mods, and since I either wanted to get those shocks/springs for my cavalier, the price of the car was pretty low cause it didnt run yet, so it was a little more than the price of new performance shocks/springs for the cavalier.

Thus, the _Shift was made And even tho she's not registered (gotta use the cavy until i sell it cuz of funding), i still LOVE to see and work on my 240, and sometimes take it out for an illegal spin around teh block.

To be honest, 11 years ago I wanted a Honda but they were out of my price range. I saw this nice looking '89 Nissan called a 240sx for 4500. I didn't know what the hell it was but it looked really nice. So I bought it and to this day I wouldn't drive anything else in it's class.

#1. The 240sx is the variant damnit

I've been a car freak from day one. since I was what, 4-5 with my medium testarossa model I swore I was going to get one. I think when I was 11-12 I realized I wouldn't be able to.

I have gone through loving civics, integras, camaro's, 60's-70's stangs, hell, all kinds of cars, until I rested my eyes upon a red 180sx and a 2 tone S13. The 180 reminded me of that red Ferrari, and the S13 was just a whole new sexy car to me. and of course that led me to the Skyline, and the bluebird SSS attesa.....man, Nissan just did it for me.

Now I have my 180. but so far it's going like my model kits....I have to put it together before I get to play with it and that ALWAYS took forever.

oh well, I'm getting there.

At the time I bought mine it was affordable overall with a rear wheel drive layout. Now it's paid for and would never be able to get back what I've put into it if I sold it.

I looked into them and went and checked one out. I called my dad and asked him about it. He told me Id Kill myself and hed kill me if I bought it. So he went on vacation and when he came home I had a new car in the driveway. I worked on it with him and friends, did some good bonding with the car and friends. It kept me out of trouble. I scored in it. I got into trouble with it.. and kept customizing on the way. Its turbo'd now, and Ill never be able to get back what I put into it. Im keeping it and dumping any girl that tells me I should get rid of it.

welcome to nico dude. If you want to learn the best ways to score in it do a search for a thread called "sex in the S13" its from a couple years ago. you might have to search archived content.I forgot to mention though, as far as the study goes, I suppose I own one because of the looks, cost, and RWD factor.

My quick list...

Small two-door sport-style car that isn't a big liftgate style hatchback. My first car was RWD and I love the balance of it.It's common to find it in stickshift.Power potential for the future.Gas milage for a sport-style car.Aftermarket support is HUGE.Popular enough for that aftermarket support, but not so popular that they common.Pop-up headlights. I love them.

And the reason I haven't sold it yet...The fact that everyone I've met in my area with a 240 will nod or wave to each other when they are complete strangers is awesome. There's almost an unspoken bond we all have over our brakes grinding in reverse, and having holes in our hatches, and a pop-up headlight not working now and then, and having a muffler fall off, etc. I just really like the community way more then Hondas or VW, etc...

I drive A 240 cause my outher two dont work

no but really... My dad brought me up on nissans cause he had a few 510s and it got me into nissan.

Back in like 7th grade i was looking in magazines and stuff checking out what cars there were and I saw the 240sx.

I was like instantly in love with the looks and the fact that they were RWD. I had no idea about the SR or the KA and all that nonsence back then. I started learning more though.

Saved up to buy my first cheap car (an 83 diesel Jimmy) then kept saving for a nice car. A kid at my High Skool owned an S14 witch his dad bought him. He didnt know anything about it, they just thought it looked nice. I was allways pissed cause i had to walk to skool and he got to drive his S14.

Later in Highskool i offered the kid 3500 for it and he said ok. Its an SE 5spd with a few little things done to it. I guess he was desperate for money. The milage was like 110k.

After I drove it for like a week i realized that it would be hard for me to own anything else. After it got hit by a drunk driver i bought it back and then decided to go the s13 rought cause thats all i could find. I loved the S13 just as much.

Now i own 2 s13's with SR's and an S14 that i would really love to rebuild.

I just love the way they feel in general and i love the look.

Back when I was a kid I remember my uncle would always come over to my house a take me out to Chuck E Cheese or to the park. He would always drive this red car that always looked so sexy. He loved his car so much that I can't even kick the tires if I wanted to. Then when I was 10 he moved away to another state. 5 years later he came to visit us and HOLY SHYT! It was a S13 the whole freakin time! I never really paid attention to what model it was. All I know was that it was a Nissan. Then he came up to me and gave me the keys to the 240 and said "she's all yours". Then he took a flight the next morning to Alaska and never came back. Now the 240 is all mines for FREE! What are the chances of a 15 year old getting a perfect mint condition S13? I guess I am pretty lucky. Almost 4 years later this kid is about to turn 19 and the 240 still looks like it just came off the Nissan Dealer parking lot except for one prblem. The exhaust hanger on the frame rusted off so now the exhaust is hanging there by a coat hanger wire (I can't weld hangers there, way too close to the fuel tank). Still loving the car though.

well, i was looking for something rwd and sporty, that i could wrench on all the damn time. i was in the market for a FC, ae86, etc. i even almost bought a maserati biturbo 425! (my dad wanted me to sooo badly). i was also inches from buying a 25th anniv. lotus esprit turbo. finally i found my little s13 with several spun bearings (sounded like nothing i have ever heard, all 4 rod bearings were spun, and a few mains). the interior was flawless and the paint was shot. i bought it on the spot and have not looked back since. since then i have owned a s13 coupe, but it wasnt the same, and i still drive my hatch. best car ever. i will drive it until the day i die.

My main reason of buying my car was to get from point A to C, second, was because it is a nissan. and you all know what are the potentials of a nissan car...... To me its reliable, the engines are great, if you maintain them. its simple, slick, fun, etc.

My favorite cars have always been Nissans. This may sound strange, but they engineer a sort of "fun factor" into the cars they produce.

I had a 95 Altima for a while and it was very dependable and got pretty good fuel economy. I found out how safe they are when I got rear ended on the highway. I was doing 70mph in the rightmost lane (3 lanes/side deal) and got hit by a guy doing over 120mph. I had 3 passengers. The car was destroyed, but everyone was ok.

My next Nissan was a 04 SpecV. That car was a blast even though it was FWD. I wrecked it after getting sideways (hydroplaned). Broadsided a tree on the passenger side of the car between the doors. I was really banged up from all of the airbags and the treelimbs smacked me in the head (punched right thru the sunroof, no sunroof for me ever again). But I walked/crawled away from it.

Now I have 95 USDM S14 (SR/mods) and a 90 EDM S13 (CA/Stock). I haven't driven the S14 yet, but the S13 is a blast. People in Naples (Italy) drive kinda crazy and it helps to have a car that is responsive as well as nimble. Sometimes I have problems finding parking, but it doesn't bother me.

My reasons for driving/buying a Nissan S-Chassis:

1. Bang for the buck.2. Nissan's engineering is on point.3. The fun factor.4. I think both the S13 and S14 are outstanding cars. Not to fond of the S15 styling though I would take its guts in a heartbeat.

well i when i was 17, i was int he market for an integra, prelude, or a probe. I wanted something that had a good aftermarket and was frontwheel drive, along with something that looked decent. I was looking thru the classifieds one day at work and a saw a nissan 240sx for sale for $1900, RWD, 4 extra tires included. And i cut it out and put it in my wallet, went home...forgot about it... few days later checked out a couple probes and a prelude... prices were iffy cause i wanted something 4 grand or under they were pushing it. a few days after that i was searching for soemthing in my wallet and i found the classified ad i put their...and i'm like, well i have a day off so i might as well call about it and take a look at the car...thinking that it was gonna look gay and not be what i wanted. I really didn't search on a 240 to see what one looked like before i went. So later that day i drove a half hr to go see it...and i knew right away which car it was when i was coming down the street, and my heart started to beat faster the closer i got because it turned out that a 240sx it pretty sexy. anyways, i looked at it inside and out, not a bit of rust on the body or frame, just a hair on the floor panel near the exhaust. I talked with the guy and he said he was the 3rd owner and the last owner was a mechanic and babied the car. so i test drove and and instantly i fell in love with rwd because i could feel the car pushing me instead of pulling and it had a bit of kick to it...i researched ont he car will 5am that night and decided it was the perfect car for me. so then i bought it for 1750 and drove it away the same day. since then i've completely stripped the interior and pretty much most things not needed to drive or pass an inspection. without the emmissions in there the engine is a godsend to work on, with the lateral engine layout, everything is accessable with ease and not only that but there's unlimited possibilities with the car, whether it be with the stock engine or 1 of the other dozen or so popular engine swaps. each engine has great potential. the chassis alone has tons of potential because of the great weight dist. along with the fact that if you get tired with one sexy front end, you can tear it off and throw on another equally sexy front end and still have half a dozen more to choose from. Personally i think this car has the perfect aftermarket for me, theres a lot...but not tooo much...cause i like to be creative and make/modify certain parts to fit my car, and not just buy something already prefit and just bolt it on. also there's plenty of parts for the cars that are hard to get and have a hgih demand, and searching for good deals on them and actually finding them is fun in itself. I don't think i'll ever get sick of 240's. infact i'm buying a parts car someone crashed locally and i'm taking what i want and parting out the rest.
