Might depend on where you are. and definately not all 'young' guys here. Most people I see driving V's are middle aged around here men and women.

Only "old lady" driving a V around here is my wife and she's much younger and a heck of a lot better looking than I am.

I'm not an old lady, I just look like one. Strange question as I have yet to see an old lady driving a V around here. Seems to be mostly middle to younger age women. And me.

The Versa appeals to OLDER people, or people with back problems, because it offers such EASY Ingress/Egress, even for the back seat. My wife uses our Versa to transport many different seniors around and they've all been impressed with this feature, the total space for passengers inside, and the comfort of the seats.

You see a lot of seniors driving Ford Crown Vics just so they can get in & out of the vehicle. They simply have NO other need for a vehicle that large at this stage of their lives. The Versa makes perfect practical sense for them. Chrylser's PT Cruiser offers similar design advantages for passengers with far superior versatility but hauling stuff around is generally not a big priority for seniors. Also, the PT is significantly heavier, less aerodynamic, and uses a larger engine so gas mileage is generally poorer although there have been some pretty dismal numbers turned up by the Versa in these forums.

Oddly enough, most of the Versas I see around here are rentals, so I can't say one way or the other...

Maybe they got the intelligent key and it's easier to turn on with arthritic hands?

While I don't consider myself "old" many of you will think so. I'm a 49-year old grandma. I see Versa's driven by all ages and both genders.

For those of you who think I'm old, believe me, 20 years goes by fast

This is where I think Nissan missed the mark in their marketing. I see it as a mini-SUV, not a kid's car. It truly is "Versa"tile.

The Versa appeals to all sorts of people. I'm a 17 y/o male, a pretty rare bird as far as the Versa crowd goes around my town. And it's not really suprising.. The Versa is marketed oddly in that it isn't really marketed toward any group. The name of the car reflects the versatile nature of the Versa community. It's an affordable entry level car but you can't tell in the ride or the appearance. (i.e Toyota Echo). Unlike the Scion, clearly marketed for the 18-"20something" demographic, the Versa doesn't pull any frills to appeal to the younger audiences at all. My car doesn't appeal to any of my friends until they get in it. Then they love it. This is probably because they can't find a category to place the car in.. it's not like anything else being sold in the states right now, fit included. A sports package would do wonders for the Versa's sales in the younger demographic. Scratch that, a basic wheel and tire package would see many more Versa's sold, something Nissan should consider. As soon as they figure out how to market this car to appeal to the incredibly diverse potential versa community. Easy enough right? Yeah..

I agree with the mini-SUV when i park next to the Outback it is the same size, if not a tad bigger. I really do not know how it gets put into the sub-compact category cause it is bigger than most compacts.

What is the Sentra considered?

Outmoded.

When you say Outback, do you mean the LEGACY Outback (named Outback) or the IMPREZA Outback (named Outback Sport or OBS)?

The Versa is the same size as my friend's OBS... which is on the smaller side of compacts. It is WAY shorter, end-to-end, than my parents' Legacy Outback... which is considered a mid-sized.

Two of my closest friends really want Versas for their next cars... after having sat in and driven mine.

The majority of Versa owners who come through the dealership are elderly people, the other extreme is young kids. Not much in between.

Define . . . *elderly*, svp.

fwiw, today I saw a V on the road for only the 4th time here -- not many, for a city with close to a million people. Maybe I'm not looking hard enough [wrong!]. Must be in the wrong part of town.

And them Vs? All hatchs.
