Sup Guys,

I went in for my 30,000 mile service and my mechanic was like btw you need new front tires. To me, they look like they still have plenty of tread. What are the ways to tell when you need new tires?

sup dude!?

Go to your nearest auto parts place and get yourself a tire tread gauge...Meaure your tires. If you have 4/32 or less, then it's time to replace.ESPECIALLY if so on the fronts. As you loose tread you increase your hydro-planing.

Oh, and the wear-bar is at 2/32nds. That's the little bar that is in the groove of your tread. If you run your finger in the tread, you will eventually hit one.

Some say you can use a penny. Stick it in the tread with Lincoln's head down, and if the top of his head is even with the tread, you need a new tire. Actually, when your tires are that worn you'll be surprised by how well your car handles and how smooth it rides after new tires.

You can follow SVT advice, 'cause as I figure it, he's got 16 tires on the road, and 4 in the trunks, so he should know.
