So I finally got my License last night!!!! Yay. So I took my car on the highway, floored it. Wow. VERY good acceleration from 0-60, and boy does that intake howl. Now when I want to go from 60++++++++ I had to floor it, and it barely moved. Whats going on?

Later that night, I climbed a small slope, and the car struggled going up it. Common, my friends saturn can do better then that.

210 hp = maybe 160 at the wheels.

Yours has extra weight, a lot of miles and could probably use some good maintenance.

Therefore, you're probably putting down even less than that.

It sounds like your "finally got my License last night!!!! and I had to floor it" switch is working properly. Maybe your parents set it to 60? How fast do you want/need to go?

Seriously, did the transmission down-shift when you floored it at sixty? I have trouble keeping my '93 with its' 175K miles under 70 mph on the freeway and hills aren't an issue at all. Try pulling some codes.

I have low millage though, 107,000. The mechanic who did my oil change about 200 miles ago, said i need to get my sparkplugs and drivebelts changed at 108,910 miles. Is that the problem? How do I have extra weight? Maybe I should loose the spare tire.

I think it could be the spark plugs and that intake you put in, the belts have nothing to do with it besides if they break your screwed.

And yea lose the spare tire, but good luck with a flat.

Just got your license and already want to lose it. What happens if you mom or dad see this post.

I heard that Pep Boys used to sell some kind of governor chip for teen drivers. Or was is the GPS tracking device in the form of a thumbdrive for your computer?

Naladude911, congrats on your license.

I don't think removing the spare will help much as far as speed goes. The J was designed to be a cruiser, not a racer. We are just forcing it to be one.

Mileage & engine condition does play a huge factor. I noticed that my Civic is slowing down just a hair. Then again, it does have close to 34K miles on it.

When was the last time you cleaned your air filter? You have an Injen filter, right? I think you have to clean those every 6K miles or so.

BTW, the extra weight comes from the sunroof, leather seats, electronic components, etc.

My money is actually on not knowing what 100hp vs 210 hp feels like. I thought my Volvo 850 was fast...when it was the only car I had driven. I have a feeling you just expected the J to be faster (since you think it's a race car), and it's not living up to your expectations (because it's not a race car).

Your mechanic is a flaming homosexual.

They need to be changed at 108,890 miles.
