I think for US purposes...it was thought that the heated windows were more practical...

Maybe in Japan...they needed motorized retractable because of tighter parking...

just a guess...

Actually when the Nissan engineers designed those retractable mirrors, they had guys like me in mind. Those sweeping mirrors cut down on surface area for those triple-digit runs. :D

He had it right the first time - They're for Japan's parking concerns. But I like the "reduced frontal-area" theory better. :D
